Oh my GOSH I cannot tell you how nice it is hearing someone vocalise literally my exact experiences in terms of starting a social life from scratch over and over again in your early adulthood. Really comforting knowing that other people can relate! I left secondary school, then went to sixth form at a brand new school ( I'm from the UK) then I moved to Australia for 6 months, then I went to university in the UK, then I dropped out 6 months later, then started a new job, then lived in a van and travelled around Europe & Africa then moved to Seoul, Korea which is where I am now! I'm only 22 and looking back at all of that is actually WILD to me. On reflection moving/starting afresh so much is definitely why I absolutely love my own company and I'm super independent/self reliant. Definitely agree about some people being in your life for just a chapter, so freeing to realise that💘😌

we had very similar experiences! moved to Paris when I was 22 to be an au pair, moved to NYC for a year, then back to Paris to do freelance work & back to NYC again - my social life has been a bit messy for years, but I love how you said you learned to rely on yourself :)

Pleaseeee don’t use the glue traps!! They are SUPER inhumane and sad. The mice get stuck and die slowly of starvation and dehydration. There are much more humane options out there!

I relate so much to starting over multiple times - I am from Belgium and have studied abroad in Germany for a year, then went back to Belgium to leave a year after that for Cardiff in Wales (UK) and this past September I moved to Scotland. I wouldn't change my experiences for the world, but it can definitely be hard!

Hi Elena! I hiiiighly recommend spraying peppermint essential oil to keep mice away! I had the same problem with them coming in behind the oven in my Bushwick apartment. I doused the area with peppermint oil and never saw them again :) The smell just kinda burns their noses and deters them

There is an alliance française in New York, I'm not sure if they have classes in person right now but it would be a good option if you're looking for more intensive teaching methods. I will say that nothing compares to learning French in France though. Tu vas t'en sortir car t'as la motivation pour le faire. Il vaut absolument le coup d'apprendre une deuxième langue, et la langue française est un super choix. C'est une langue enrichissante avec beaucoup d'aspects qui n'existent pas dans la langue anglaise. Recherche les mots verlan si tu ne connais pas déjà, c'est vraiment cool 😉 bon courage Elena, bisous !
