Congrats on your first hang!! I take a couple handwarmers with me for each night of camp and throw them in my boots with socks or gloves or both and the boots are much warmer in the morning. Buy the Mega handwarmers, they last at least 12 hours. Good to warm up your hands in the morning if needed too!! Enjoy!!

If I was going to use a hammock, it would probably be the Dramur, but for winter, I'll take my hot tent and wood stove thank you very much! Good vid as always; I like the hunting stuff myself, but I know some people get upset, so you take your chances posting it.

Hey Luluwan! You make a fair point, I figured baptism by…ice ❄️ was a good way to break it in 😂 I look forward to the hot stove as well! Thanks for your input about the hunting topic. Happy holidays ☃️🏕

That was fun. I miss hunting in the snow. It definitely makes tracking easier lol. I love the Amok! I’d own one but I can’t figure out where I’d stash my cpap 🙄 I haven’t done any big game hunting since I moved to NC. In the fall I usually head up to Michigan’s upper peninsula to hang out with friends and do some small game and bird hunting. I’d like to see you do some hunting videos as long as it won’t jeopardize your KZbin channel. Some people are sensitive about that kind of thing.
@FreakofNature12 жыл бұрын
If you get a chance you should definitely try an Amok out! Even if its just to relax during the day...read a book...enjoy a beverage, that sort of thing!🍻 We are still on the fence about hunting for that reason, but if people are open to it we will share it! Thanks for watching Alan👊

Love it Freak. Ya, do more winter stuff , but go 'Yuppie' on the hunting. That way YT can't penalize you both. My last Winter Camp and ski was 45 years ago , Arrowhead P.P. -43f. I slept like a bug in a rug. Tourist tent, air mattress, tent heater [ it didn't work worth a s- - t, summer weight sleeping bag and a " SPACE BLANKET " ! ! Never leave home without one. Put my felt liners at the bottom of the bag, nice and warm for my toes in the morning. Last time hunting, unfortunately, 39 years ago, on my cousins 400 acre farm over by Palmer Rapids. Both of you stay healthy, stay safe and stay happy.

Hey, you may want to look into chemical heaters (Hot hands brand). I use body warmers (non-adhesive), I put one in the bottom of each boot with a sock lightly stuffed into the top of the boot. in the morning your boots and sox will be warm and dry. I also put a couple hot hands body warmers in my sleepy bag foot box to keep my feet warm. using chemicals hand(body) warmers seems like common sense to me, but I never see anybody actully post that they use them. I do not ultra lite camp so the weight of the chemical heaters is not a concern for me, although the weight/confort ratio i think would be a reward even for hikers. they weigh almost nothing and as you ues them, you can just dicard them. if you use the closed cell pad put it under your insulated air pad. you want to keep the isulation of the air pad in cantact with your and isulate the bottom of the air pad from cold air. I only use a closed cell pad on top of a non-isulated air pad (which is never a good choice) to keep the cold air out of cantact with me.

I have been thinking about trying the Amok, I enjoy hammock camping. It doesn’t like like it’s much bulkier or more weight when packed then a traditional style hammock set up, which I thought it might be.
@FreakofNature12 жыл бұрын
I have nothing to compare it too but I am very pleased with how light and small it packs down especially with the Winter pad!😀So far I would definitely recommend the Amok, thanks for watching Nicola! 🍻
@sundaymorninghikes62754 ай бұрын
I know you can't get the CCF pad under the inflatable pad, but the CCF pad is blocking your body heat and subsequently not doing the job it's supposed to do. Glad it worked out for you though! Maybe squeeze some Reflectix under the inflatable pad? How do you like the Amok 2 years later?

Hey! Awesome stuff. What pillow do you use? I couldn't quite understand that. Hadn't thought of splitting wood sideways but that's smart. With a hatchet (short handle) there's a risk of it missing the target and the swing ending up at your legs. That way it virtually eliminates risk of injury, though the blade will hit the ground more often and dull out faster (personally i'd much rather have to sharpen my hatchet more often than risk being sent to the ER). And it's not that unlikely to happen. I remember some dude getting injured with a hatchet in a survival TV show. Also it was risky going for such a low temp while first testing equipment though... Not recommended tbh - could be a fatal mistake. Had you closed the bugnet you'd have gotten less cold from windchill - condensation isn't an issue since it's mesh. Though I never slept in temps where breathing condesation froze on the sleeping bag like it did here... Water bottle trick isn't awful, but the problem is just as you showed - too warm at first and not hot enough after a while. Much better to make a cosy for your water bottle and open the cosy when you get cold. Or use a thermos to keep it scalding hot and pour into another bottle when you need the heat. I use both methods depending on what kind of trip I'm on.
