Thanks for the layer help, I use polar fleece for the top and bottom, as a sheet set I cant afford that so i just use the material in throws and put them on.

Keep cosy! Good idea to cover the high ceiling void in the stairwell. Hopefully that should retain some heat in places where it is better used.

Thanks. I hope so. Will be able to confirm or dispel very soon. When it's not possible to put in an actual false ceiling because either you can't afford it or you don't own the property, You've just got to make do and get creative.
