I have powdery mildew on a few of the taller canes on one of my roses. It was not there in early Sept. Should I remove those canes before collaring my roses for the winter?? I don't want to encourage the mildew to overwinter!

Thanks for your question and we are sorry we missed it earlier this month! The cold weather should take care of controlling the powdery mildew now, but the leaves that fall off after freezing should be removed because you are correct, powdery mildew could overwinter on the leaves left behind.
