I'll still give it a go though because I'm a sucker for historical otomes. At first I was interested in Tomonari but after hearing you talk about Kinji I'm definitely interested in him now too! Such a helpful video! Don’t feel bad if you haven’t really liked this game, we all have different tastes, but it’s very cool for you to still have shared your opinion in an objective way! Im very intrigued by the different common routes and I usually like historical settings so I’m excited for when the game will come out! You had me at short comman ruote. Alot of these long coman ruotes stay burning me out, so I'm glad to hear that. I think I'll probably get it, I'm also getting burnt out on fluff games as well. I don't like historical Otome set in Japan but I do like this concept and some of the LI's have me interested.

I agree! Long common routes can be exhausting, that’s why I’m glad that in recent games we get the “skip to next option” function 😁 The three sub common routes did make the game less repetitive though 🙂 Which LIs interest you the most? 👀

The whole premise here sounds intriguing! The idea of seeing emotions as strings around people's necks, having a lot of negative emotions can produce a monster, and these people who were created solely to be soldiers without emotion to destroy monsters...which means that as you get closer to an LI you're potentially putting them in danger by triggering their emotions! It's like a balancing game of "i could accidentally get them killed like this but i can't help the way we feel". The potential angst! Interesting that it has what you call "tragic love" endings, that's a little different from what I think a bad ending usually is. I do like the fashion too, I enjoy pretty kimono 👀 I am glad that it's like Hakuoki but not as sad XD I was a bit unsure about this game because I still haven't finished all the newer routes of Hakuoki that weren't in the original game (there's so many now and they're so long) and I'm not sure if I'm ready for another Shinsengumi era game. So this video really helps that. Also thank you for the warning of the locked characters meaning we could end up getting nothing but bad ends cuz they're locked X'D I wouldn't have figured that out on my own until I ended up looking it up anyway XD Ooh, Kinji sounds like a potential favorite. Depends on how similar he acts to Okita in Hakuoki cuz him I couldn't deal with but I do love a guy that is a bit of an ass. And Kinji is VERY pretty and being in the red light district interests me. Yoichi definitely matches my aesthetic. I love that appearance! But it's nice to hear his route ends up being really romantic. Tsundere is not my favorite but it's got some really good aspects.

I hope you enjoy this game rose 🥰 I'm with you on the Hakuoki because I've only played 3 routes (and only in Kyoto Winds) and I'm already exhausted with the angst and info dump 🤣 Would love to continue it but man are there just so many characters 😭 Would love to hear what you think of Kinji after you play his route! I’ve been pretty excited for this one ever since it was announced!! What interests me the most? ITS SOOO HARD TO CHOOSE, THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS!! The art (and the LIs) look gorgeous, the historical fantasy setting, the 3 “common” routes.(Idk if that’s a spoiler),but I think that the main reason that I’m so exited for this game is that I’ve heard from a friend that there are fake dating/ enemies to lovers routes, which I’m a sucker for!!!

Re-watching this review again since the game came out recently and yeah I still may get it, despite what I said in my original post. Gosh re-reading that makes me cringe about the tsun's hairstyle lol. But I do plan on getting Norn 9 first since I've been wanting to play that game since I saw a few episodes of the anime some years ago lol. Sadly Norn9 is going to have to wait since there are other games I want more lol. But even those games will have to wait because of events coming up (traveling out of state to spend time with my brother and his family being the big one, man plane tickets cost so much).

I didn't know this at the time due to be young, but my family lived in Maryland and we visited Virginia from time to time. I remember visiting different places but didn't know they were out-of-state. Like we visited this Amusement Park called King's Dominion and it's in Northern Virginia. I remember it for its blue ice cream and loved the characters there you could hug for they were based on Western Cartoons.

I am interested in the game with what you mentioned about it being shoujo like. With all the more dark heavy otome games I have been playing that sounds appealing. I have played a lot of otome games so the plot not having surprises may affect my enjoyment but maybe I will like the characters enough that it won’t bother me to much? I do like historical fiction as well. It is a bit of a wait and there are a lot of otome games coming up. I have been not buying any because of it can be pricy and I already have a backlog to go through. Maybe then I will have finished my backlog. So I may consider getting Birushana or this one in the future.

There are cliche romantic cute moments for sure 🥰 some of the bad endings are quite dark, but a lot of them felt very “oh, ok, that happened 😳 -move on-“ if that makes sense haha. Birushana was an awesome game plot wise! These games really have increased in number, it’s crazy! 😍

Like a lot of us are used to some more extreme characters so these felt a little vanilla! So, Otomate, seeing people get annoyed by 'Hakuoki again, because too much history details', did... *Less history-detailed Hakuoki.* 😏 I plan on buying it, but I put doing it ahead to not wait almost year and get annoyed, like with Olympia Soiree(WHY IN 2023?!). 🤷🏻‍♀️ I fully agree about 'Hakuoki vibe' this is, what made me interested first thing. Especially Kuga - again, YES - instantly reminded me of Saito. 🔥☺️ BUT what truelly makes this game feel like Hakuoki, or certainly Edo-like game is samurai-like souls in 'guys'. As they are 'items' to goverment, which reminds me very much of scene, where Saito(sorry, he is my fav AND fits most to make point) talk to mc, when she deciding staying with him(and some times before), like he is living and dying for Hijikata, or one of landlords, that accepted him, so he just do, what THEY want, considering himself a tool in their hands. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Samurais was swords, they often considered themselves tools to their 'masters', which also was reason, why 'master-less samurai' was considered disgrace. As for Kuga... He sounds, like he could be 'made of sword'. 💛 But what makes me curious is... Could they be... Unmade, if useless? 🤔 This is really interesting, as in Hakuoki, they still were human, even if turned to furies... Here... I am sure, gover got ready for 'things getting emotions' scenario possibility... 🤔

I feel like Hakuoki may be “better” in that it was much more emotional (at least the routes I played anyway), but if you want an Edo aesthetic otome that won’t shred your heart to pieces, this is a good one 😆 I need to play Saito’s route! I played Okita’s route in Kyoto Winds and it traumatised me lmao. I’ve been hesitant to play the others routes because of that >.

@@RestingPeachFace Kyoto Wind is only part of full PS4 game, that in pc was Kyoto Winds (common bond with budding bond) and Edo Blossom (actual romance with guy). 🔥 Okita... Yes. His disease is making his route very hard, especially, that he is VERY loveable pall(I know he had enormous fanclub, too) If You ever do Kyoto Wind/Edo Blossom review, I will gladly watch it. I am forever fan of Hakuoki, even put it in my BA years ago. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Winter Wish looks great and I most likely WILL order it tomarrow... But waiting till 2023 is SADISM. 😭 But I will probably try to find even a bit time for my Hakuoki boys today... 🤔 Yes. I am deffinitelly interested in Your future opinion over Saito. 😉

@@RestingPeachFace KB is just common route. And as remastered oryginal, EB has added romance scenes, also there are those happy endings, that are INDEED happy... But, yeah. There are also TRAGIC ENDINGS... Looking at history... Pretty understandable. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But You will love Okita happy ending in EB, as 'compensation' for already emotional KW damage. 😁

As much as I love my tsunderes, I personally can't stand the tsundere's hair style, it reminds me too much of women's hairstyles in the 40s (at least hear in the US). I don't know maybe if I get the game or at least watch a play through of it (when it comes here to the US), his personality will make me forget about that hair style lol.
