Winter seed sowing is so much fun and can help your flowers, especially perennials like echinacea, get a head start on the growing season! 🌱 You know how much we love growing flowers, and on this video we'll show you how we're using 2-gallon milk jugs to sow seeds in their own mini-greenhouses that can stay outdoors through the winter until the seedlings are ready to transplant! Nice to-do reminder! For me in Michigan 8-10 weeks prior to last freeze date late Feb. Last year was my 1st year trying the jugs and loved having them! and most successful was leeks. I allowed the brassicas to go too long ( took an unexpectedly long spring vacation) and they bolted! Im gonna try again -flowers! Thanks!

We've had in the past broccoli bolt on us with a couple of unforseen really warm days in the early spring and it was all over. Fun thing is that we can try again. In Massachusetts? It is snowing and there’s ice outside. Can I still put them out? It is usually cloudy here too Could I set it all up and the annual seeds may/will freeze but that when it’s not as cold? Our last frost is often late April

Hi Carol! 👋🏼👋🏼 Oh, we love Northern Idaho. So beautiful there. Depending on the seeds you want to grow and if you have a full sun location (whether it's cloudy or sunny), there are seeds you could start growing. Make sure to check the Farmers' Almanac Frost Date-Zipcode checker to see when your last forecasted frost date will be, and then you can start scheduling back which seeds to start in a jug (think of it like a mini greenhouse).
