I’m 24 and I just started going to the gym on August 8th. I have since gone over 90 times for 2 hours a day. Following a PPL split. I have gained 15 lbs (160 to 175) and I don’t plan on stopping. Thanks for the vids Sam. Wish I started sooner but I worked a manual labor job for years that made me so tired everyday.

30:36 even for a person that has lifted for a minute imo youll always have times where lifting is more important and less depending on your life, I'd love to be in the gym 5 or 6 days a week but when i work 5 to 6 days a week im exhausted and did hlt the gym for a few months on a busy schedule but I cant sustain that safely, ive reduced my time in the gym to 2 to 3 days of weight training and maybe a day of calisthenics if i feel it, i walk 2-4 times a day daily. Im afraid ill lose gains as ive never worked out as little as i am but im still getting them in and getting good steps plus ive really improved my diet overall so we'll see ig.

Gotta take the post car talk seriously. I had a friend in school who had zero experience in the gym. He joined my buddy and I for 3 workouts, push, pull and legs. Same amount of sets and exercises. The newbie ended up with horrible back pain, and asked if it was normal that his pee was the colour of coco cola (he was from Venezuela, his English was getting better but we just assumed he was dehydrated. He ended up with Rhabdo and was hospitalized for 8 days. He spent his entire reading week in the hospital. Funny to say his still one of my best friends to this day.

@ he was just a guy who had zero fitness experience, had horrible diet, never drank enough fluids and had a horrible sleep schedule (he would play LoL till 3am) . He wasn’t obese by any means, it was really my fault. I didn’t realize that my level intensity could be so damaging to someone who’s never worked out before. I forget what his creatinine levels were , but the doctor said it was the worst case of rhabdomyolysis he’s ever seen.

@ not at all. I’ve tried all different styles of weightlifting, including CrossFit. As you can imagine your interests will change as you change as an individual. I’ve even dabbled with anabolics but have been off them for almost 7 years now. The biggest thing that will help your gains is intensity and consistency, you can add variation with supersets and pre-exhausting or post-exhausting a targeted muscle. Obviously diet and recovery play crucial roles as well. Enjoy the journey my man, stay strong 🦍
