Let's get ready for a winter snow hike at Annette Lake located in the Snoqualmie Pass / North bend region of Washington State!
This hike can be rated as moderate difficulty depending on your overall hiking ability but personally it's more of a mild to moderate hike.
What makes Annette Lake generally challenging during the winter season is just due to the snow conditions! Every step you take requires a little bit more effort, so depending on if the snow level is hard packed or not can add to the level of difficulty.

Annette Lake is a 8.5 - 9 mile RT hike with an approximate elevation gain of ~1500ft. The hike does have about 3 - 4 avalanche chutes that you will have to cross. So always make sure to check the avalanche forecast in order to reduce your risk of getting stuck in one of these! But for the most part, they are easy to cross and shouldn't be anything to worry about!
For those of you not looking to complete Annette Lake trail, after hiking about 0.5 miles from the trailhead, you'll come across a beautiful bridge with a small little waterfall creek that you can rest upon.

Equipment recommended for Winter Snow Hike at Annette Lake
- Snow Shoes: Snow shoes were required for doing the entire Annette Lake trailhead. The snow was soft and every step you took, your feet were sinking in
- Hiking Poles: Hiking poles definitely help in any snow winter conditions. Helps to ascend those tough difficult spots without having to use your hands
- Water-proof Shoes: With the winter snow conditions, you MUST have water-proof shoes. When your feet are sinking in at least a foot or two, the last thing you want is to have cold wet feet
- Depending on where you park, you will require either a Discover Pass or a Snow-Park Pass.
