Greetings from the US. I'm a retired Police Officer, and even in Washington DC, the Nation's Capitol we get snow like that ever so often. I'm truly happy I don't have to work in it any more. I love how the other van had almost no snow around it. Amazing how a meter or two makes a difference on drifting snow. Brings back days of winter camping and sleeping in a qwizzie and -30c temps and windchill of -45c and a buzzard going on for 4 days. I remember as a teen we once got out of the house through the second floor windows and sliding of into the drift from the rooftop. Both front and back doors had drifts to the roof blocking the exits. Glad you both enjoyed your winter snow storm and was laughing and having fun in it
@tordremme65683 жыл бұрын
My guess is that trying to stop the wind and snow from going under the van is a mistake that actually makes it snow in. If there was wind under the van, the snow would have blown away under that van too.

Originally from Western New York. When I was a wee one, my dad used to have to tunnel out the front door, the snow was so deep. We built igloos and snow caves after a big snowstorm. Loved it! Outside around the van is going to turn into ice as the snow melts from the warmth coming from the van. Very common problem if you have a car with a warmer inside. Sometimes it can be really hard to get inside and open the doors. Also think about that you can be locked in at your place for a long time if there is no tractor with plough available. Especially if you live remote.

I've experienced snow similar to this twice in my life - once in Italy in 1978 in Cervinia, skiing at Christmas and in Upstate New York in 1993 - dry, fluffy, crunchy snow - like powder. Difficult to walk in but in an AWD vehicle, kinda magical - the sheer volume of the stuff was more problematic than traction. You keep your wits about you and stay on the road and near civilization and you'll be all right. Keep your feet dry, have plenty to eat and drink and stay warm - humans have been doing this stuff for thousands of years👍

Hellooooo from the beach on the east coast of Central Florida! Yes!!! This reminded me of many nights wayyy up high in Coloradoooo as I've van life'd for over 20 years. Some of my FAVORITE times was when I'd drive beyond the last of the snowed road and make my way to overlooks and land for the night deep in the Colorado deep snow.. I'd have Sushi, watermelon, pizza, and enough for a few days. Then, when I was ready to drive back down to Boulder, to work, I'd jockey my way back to the plowed roads and drive the 30-ish miles back into the human population. Yet, I'd return, again and again, and love love love, being out with the huge Mountain Lions, Ravens, and Magpies. Life. Adventures. Memories. And Loving Angels🎶🐰🎵🦁🎶🧡🎶

Great video. A bit of advice from a Canadian, is I would not have parked the van out in the open if I had the choice. I would figure out what direction the wind was mainly coming from and park it on one sife of a building, it makes a huge difference with the cold and will mean far less digging yourself out. Long-wise n front of the barn with the green doors would have been perfect.

I grew up outside Detroit and Winter was my favorite time of year. My mom had to threaten me with no dinner to get me to come back into the house, this would be long after all the other kids had gone inside to get warm. Tip: Snow shoes. TIP 2: Consider running hose from your exhaust pipe up the side of the van and then into an upside down 'J' to avoid blocking by snow. Or I might have considered backing the van as close to the shed as possible for same reason. Tip 3: Face your van into the wind to avoid the doors being blocked again. Tip 4: every hour shovel snow away from doors. Use snow to build berm to keep more snow from blocking door.
