Dr.Ellen, thank you for your presentation and experiment. You promised to update after a year of this experiment. It's been more than a year. Would you like to upload the result, good or less good, we will learn something that could be improved on next project. Thank you for sharing.

I Have been growing "Wendy" Variety Strawberries year around in my Grrenhouse here in Maine for several years. They grow in Aluminum Rain Gutters that are mounted on the wall framing of the greenhouse at 12 inch height intervals. I attempted to grow them in rows and containers inside the greenhouse but did not have enough sunlight. To get maximum light exposure they had to be moved to the wall gutter system. I had supplemental heat from a wood fired hot air furnace at 55 degrees.

I am curious as to chilling hours requirements and fruiting photo period. Do you need over 14 hours sunlight? Could you use normal honey bees? What are the minimum temperatures?

What I want to know is how they trick these plants into blooming when they want them to rather than blooming in spring like normal. Does it happen naturally when the light levels in autumn hit spring light levels without the expected drop in temperature because of the greenhouse conditions?

usually it is based on photo-period. The leaves get more light in the blue range and for longer periods. This triggers hormones to initiate flowering.

I don't want to berate your work. The green house looks fantastic and the scientific understandings you guys have discovered during the experiment are very valuable to the human race but we really need to get away from doing "cost effective" experiments and start focusing on "resource effective" experiments. A day will come when Planetary sustainability will override financial obligations. Why not start right now and be the necessary change that future generations will depend on.
