Great video again Nick, don't worry mate, I often get my December mixed up with my January! And as we know, the thing about Scottish weather is, if you don't like the current weather, just wait 20mins and another will be along! All the best for 25.

That’s a fair trek but well worth it, some lovely images from there too and no wind either. I did buy some crampons this week just in case it is icy when I am there.

Thanks very much Peter. Crampons or micro spikes (they each have their uses) are well worth having in the winter. We were in Glencoe yesterday and used the crampons to come done the very icy at times path.

@ They are the Nortec Alp 2.0. They look very similar to the ones you use, as I could not find my size anywhere for those. It’s all a bit strange to me as we never have any such use for these in the Lincolnshire fens!!! I hope they will be ok. Oh and some walking poles too.

@@peternickols2687 They will be fine for all but serious mountain stuff. Micro spikes can get balled up when walking through snow. I have been using poles for almost two years now, and they work great for me.

Hi Nick. Respect to you for putting in the effort to get to your location for sunrise! You've captured some beautiful images here and I bet you never tire of photographing the Quairaing due to the ever changing conditions. I'm planning to get up to Skye next year (2026) but might leave it until Spring arrives! Many thanks for sharing.

Thanks very much Tim, I certainly don’t tire of the Quiraing, and am continually finding new viewpoints to shoot from. Hope to see you on Skye next year.

For days I was still saying 2024, so totally understand lol. Thank you for explaining your process of how you create your composition, I appreciate getting photographers' thoughts on the whys and hows of why they make the decisions they do. I love seeing the old shots that were your favorite, all were great and I'd have to go with numbers 2 and 5 as those moved me the most. Fantastic vid Nick and thanks for gifting us with your vids, all the editing, etc. Happy New Year to you 👋

In the shots, especially as the sun rises further, the orange haze in the field to the left is attractive, but sometimes it’s nice to loose that - even though it’s what we see with our eyes. But our brains, in real life, often seems to remove it. Do you ever choose to reduce it and, if so, when - on the hill or in lightroom? As to the vid, this is the first I’ve watched (arrived from your Insta) and now liked and subscribed 😊

Thanks very much for your like, subscribe and comment, it is very much appreciated. I am not 100% sure what you are referring to with regards the orange haze, however I will try and reply anyway. Sometimes there isn't actually a shot and it is just something that looks pleasing to the eye. If I had shot the scene with the pinnacles at too wide a focal length to include more to the left, then the pinnacles would be a lot smaller and become insignificant, whereas they are one of the main features of the composition. Then there could also be way too much empty space to the left of the frame.

Wow, what conditions you had Nick. I am there at the beginning of February with Lee (LM) so hopefully we’ll get something similar but without the bad conditions on the road. Last February we couldn’t get up due to the wheels on the minibus spinning but I believe you were up there that morning and probably used the route in this video. You never know, we may bump into you. Super images at the end too.
