Winter-Themed Lunch from a Japanese Convenience Store

Texan in Tokyo

8 жыл бұрын

Convenience stores in Japan carry different products depending on the season. Basically the only thing I like about winter is the food.

When I was a kid and it was FREEZING cold I asked Mom to make two boiled eggs for my lunch and not cool them off. I carried them in my pockets for hand warmers, then they were ready for lunch later.

+Yoshi And STILL yummy for lunch later. In school did kids exchange things in their lunch with friends for something they might like better that day?

momkatmax In my elementary and junior high schools, lunch was prepared by the schools so everybody got the same meals. In high school, it was a norm to eat each one's lunch during classes and skip the rest and go downtown :) So, no, I didn't exchange food with my friends.

This looks soo good and you two are so lovely together :3 I am happy that I found your channel ^^ It's such a culture shock (in a positive way) to see how everything is so different in Japan. Here in Germany you often need to get bread or some kind of fastfood for a snack. I'd love to get some to-go soup somewhere ;_; Sadly I can't ... At least not where I live :c

Nikuman! I found a convenience store in Auckland that had them once and I freaking LOVED it. Of course it would pale in comparison to the one you had, haha. In wintertime here ...and summer, and all seasons really we have bakeries selling hot meat pies like steak & cheese, mince, mince and cheese, pepper steak etc, chicken & vege, bacon & egg. They're kind of a staple bakery food kiwi folk love (most of us anyway). Cold days are perfect for pies! Plus the handy dandy cup o soup packets you just add water to, lol.
