Today we are taking a look at a woodstove that came with a Luxe tent that has a stove jack or opening for the stove pipe. This woodstove is a bit too big and there are titanium woodstoves that would be smaller and have foldable legs.

My husband always when he would first set up a wood stove,is put a layer of sand in the bottom, that keeps the bottom from burning, it will last longer.

I have had a "Cub" model Cubic Mini Woodstove in my 1991 28ft Class C since my second year of ownership in 2017. About a foot cubed - much smaller than your tent model. Love it. Rely on it to extend my propane usage, especially right now in south-central British Columbia where we're having unusually cold weather. I have it installed with the available shielding and opted to use an adapter changing 3" stovepipe to 4" double-walled.

So many of the rv/van life crowd I'm watching have little, wood-burning stoves. I think they're beautiful and remind me of falling asleep countless times to the wood-burning stove (larger, of course) that was the only heat-source in my childhood home. ❤

Having a wood stove is endless security from the cold. You can stock up on wood and when you run out of propane or wood, you can easily replenish wood. Personally, I would never travel without a wood stove. It doesnt have to be set up all the time. Simply have the chimney installed and a cover for the vent when the wood stove is in storage. In northern BC we use ours even in summer so it's a permanent structure.

Seems like a great size! The little "minis" often don't last quite long enough to get much sleep, I've heard, and this size seems like a perfect happy medium! And the firepit option is very cool. 🔥 Thank you for another great video!

Folding stoves are not heavy duty. This one seems solid altough you could find similar for a third of the price. - I'd suggest canvas tent for winter - a stove fan for air circulation - thermal mass - a pressure cooker on top. Chunk of steel for base. This will soften the heat-cold curve - not messing with endless cold vaccines. Otherwise say bye bye to your friend

I use a small gasifier stove with wood pellets or twigs, and it works very well with no smoke. Just get a welder’s blanket and piece of plywood underneath it.

I have been burning wood for heat for 40 years (since I was 13 yo in my moms garage washing cars) . I would recommend a REAL chimney. The thin material they show will glow red in the dark. In a "fixed" location use thicker walled stainless pipe.

If you need ideas or equipment for a tight spot, the magical word is "nautical." People have been living and traveling on boats for many centuries. Compact and safe solutions for heat, etc have been testing in real life on boats. Failure and redesigns have are already baked into nautical products due to the long period of use. Obviously, you have a use a little common sense because I guarantee that there will be poor quality products under the nautical label, but that's true whenever you look at a selection of products.

Good point, but with RV and tiny home living, more tested products are coming from that source as well. For example, one would not need a gimbaled stove/oven on land!

You are correct Little 🥔. Only problem i see is cost Usually VERY expensive. I plan on fabricating a small vertical pipe stove (about 8" diameter) modeled after a nautical one i saw years ago.

The reason steal rusts from heat is that the heat increases the reactiveity of the steal. So metal rusts slower at colder temps. It's like 1% more per 5 degrees.

Here is a major safety feature for wood stoves that size.....you really need sturdiness on the base....because of cooking pans on top of it and basically juggling the firewood stoking it. The legs should really be at an angle to provide a wider and a much sturdier base....even though those legs are heavy, putting them at an angle will give you a much better and stro nger base for keeping your stove in the upright position.....also as the stove is continuously heated ad cooled , warping is a major issue, thus that creates a sagging of your stove that you will not want.....safety safety safety

The dryness of the wood is critical-too bad they don’t include a chimney sweep tool clean that creosote out Wonder how it would work with pellets? Bet it’s very cost efficient HUGE POINT As most folks might intend to use locally “found” wood-likely NOT dry
@carmenmartinez2882
@carmenmartinez2882 2 жыл бұрын
Get compressed wood same as pellets but lasts longer, less soot on the pipe and hardly any ashes. Make sure is compressed wood not duraflame, some people confuse them, and they’re not the same. It should be able to work, what I wouldn’t use is ironwood, unless is a cast iron stove which this is not it can actually melt parts of the metal. Don’t ever use pine cones as a starter it would clog the pipe.

Wood pellets work absolutely great in any little camping woodstove.. I have a tiny tot and they work fabulous in it.. My son has a Camp Chef military type stove for his 4 season canvas tent for hunting... That way hes not looking for wood I'm not looking for wood.. And the best fire starter to use on wood pellets is Hand sanitizer gel.. Start the wood pellets right up.. Plus wood pellets last longer

@@christinebutler7630 you could asphyxiate yourself with any combustion. You must have a source of outside air coming in. A CO monitor would be vital in any combustion, imo.
@Scolio
@Scolio 2 жыл бұрын
@@christinebutler7630 its best to assume *any* heat source wants to straight up kill you. It is up to the instruction manual and your direction following to stop that from happening (plus accepting the risk you could die anyways). As long as the diesel heater or the wood stove have a proper exhaust set up and you have proper air coming into your space, you should be fine. Im not nomadic and I live in a house but one thing bob said thatI always think back to is “I don’t trust companies, but I trust the greed of lawyers. If they make a product that kills people they will be sued so they make it safe”. Im paraphrasing here but whatever. I know there is a really good diesel heater brand that you *should* go with for many reasons. Most people get the cheap chinese ones that die within a couple years and cost wise, it works for them. As far as safety goes, i dont trust a cheap Chinese device thats purpose is to combust fuel in an enclosed space. None of these heaters are *safe* so to speak but with common sense, you should probably be good. Probably
