I like the positivity of the players in their interviews. I just hope it translates on the field of play.

A change in direction is needed. It will probably be a slow and painful adjustment at times, but I believe it will bear fruit. Looking forward to seeing the young energy plus Lars and Jordan blooming into super stars. Go Cards!

Here is the Problem. Katie doesn't understand... Due to Mikolas and Matz still being in the Rotation we won't know what Graceffo, Hence, Robberse and Roby are. There are not enough open spots. But she is protecting DeWitt and Mo so she won't question any of this.

The average team is using 10-15 different starters in today's game. Having all the veterans is a good thing for this team, especially if you want to win any games this season. It's a risk, but if the team is awful, you have a chance to move these dudes at the trade deadline. The risk of health issues preventing a trade for some of these dudes is real, but I have no problem with the team holding expiring contracts until July. If the team is better than everyone expects, hold them and make a playoff run. If the team is bad at the all star break, you can move on from all these dudes. Moving them now definitely commits to a bad season and I for one would prefer to have even the slimmest of hopes for a winning season. I honestly can't understand the logic of some fans who clamor for more starting pitchers most years, and now want to blow it all up and go with young starters. Every team wants as many starter options as they can get, look at the Dodgers issues late last year and in response, they now have like 12 starters. Keep starting pitching until you're out of it and let's see this team be in some close games while we learn about the offense of our young core.

Unrelated to the contents of the pod, Trevor you were one of my favorite Rebirds so I say this with love. I think you can end up being a great podcaster you need a higher quality camera and microphone. Raise the height of your camera you don't want to look down at your audience and you gotta find better lighting. I know you are just getting into podcasting but a few small tweaks will go a very long way! keep up the great work guys, hoping the Cards bring Pete Kozma out of retirement forever and always

I took my son (12) to the cards caravan in Decatur IL yesterday. VS2, Hence, & Rom were all loose and smiles (nice to see). Polo Ascencio was blunt about understanding & to a lesser extent agreeing with the fan frustration. He brought the discussion full circle back to hopeful optimism. While I still think it’s a 3-5 year ‘reset’ not 1; it’s very encouraging to hear the excitement from players & staff seeing the internal changes that we the fan don’t have access to yet. 👍

So they have a youth movement director but are keeping Feddie and Helsey. I would love a direction, but how do these things connect to having a direction?

Supporting the Cardinals while dissing commentators who support the team is, at best, disingenouis. Constructive criticism is worthwhile, but insulting Katie and Trevor by making sh*t up is gradeschool playground mentality.

I am waiting on who makes the 13 man position players and if it has the kids on it There is 8 on the 40 man that is 26 or younger will see how many make open day and that does not including Wetherholt Crooks or Davis which are top prospects

Great show! I was thinking the Cards would probably have a 74 -76 win season this year, but after listening to everyone at Winter Warm-up I am slightly optimistic that they might have a shot at .500, maybe even 83 - 84 wins. I still don't think that's likely, but it's a better chance than I was giving them a week ago.

“We’ll see.” Hoping the noise the players have to wade through will be wise and minimal in the clubhouse. I’m actually psyched for the season. Especially if we can jettison Mr. Happy and his 16 HRs at 3B. Time to give Gorman a clear runway at 3B. Thinking JJ and Mathew’s will be contributing.
@gabrielllllllllllll2 күн бұрын
the problem is Gorman currently isn't very good and likely will never a good overall player bc of his hight K rate. If you believe in WAR my guess is Nado's down season in 2024 will be an average-to-good season for Gorman the next 3-5 years. I'm hoping the new instructors work some magic with his bat to ball skills

What I hear here is a lot of rationalizing and justifying all the poorly thought out moves that have been made so far. As a born and bred lifetime Cardinals fan, And I've never seen such a snafu. I won't pound on any heads here, but IMO Nolan is our best player since Puhols left. I will miss Goldie, but That's life, I guess. But Nolan is still one of the top players in the game, and we should NEVER let him get away. Who does need to go are Mo and Ollie. It's easy enough to pick who should be Manager, but I doubt it happens, as Skip probably won't want any part of this disaster. The last thing I will say is that Baseball must be the key. As long as money is the key, we will never get to where this team could go. An easy fact to prove. Just look back at our history. We have so many great players, and we had many others in the recent past and just gave them away, because of money. Stupid! As long as money is the key, the best players in the world will not be able to be a team. I guess all we can do is hope it gets better once Mo is gone.
@timorenzzuartz5177Күн бұрын
Not that I want them to spend money, but they bought the team for $150 million and now are worth $2.4 BILLION. Ownership is 6th in the league with deep pockets.
@SteveDotson-ie5zgКүн бұрын
Forbes magazine estimated $3B for the DeWitts; still, that’s a drop in the bucket compared to Steve Cohen, the Mets owner, estimated to be worth &21B and Mark Walter, the principal owner of the Dodgers, estimated to be worth $12B. Those guys have the scratch to chase a Shohei Ohtani and a Juan Soto; plus, their revenue base is substantially better.

Sunshine and rainbows…. It’s a not a reset, it’s a spin while the organization cuts costs. We have no visibility into what they’re actually spending on the minor league system and never will. If they truly cared about the “reset,” Arenado would be gone by now. Instead, he’s still here because the DeWitts refuse to eat a significant portion of his salary. Sorry, but I don’t buy the positive vibes.

@timorenzzuartz5177Күн бұрын
C'mon, you two! They have to be transparent because it only took the fans 12 years to finally catch on and call them on their bullshit. Even if Arenado was traded, that's still only 2 spots that are different and that's a change and a youth movement...😂?!!! Mikolas Matz and Fedde need to go so these young guns can show what they do or don't have. Matz definitely needs to go and I'd take a soup sandwich for him. They haven't had a true 2 way cf'er since John Jay. Scott and Siani are only 1 way players. This team is actually made up of only really good bench players.

Ugh this pod now carrying water for the front office? 1:55 "The Cardinals finally have a direction and they're committing to it...they have to get better at drafting and developing." -- Gee what novel thought. How many off-season did it take to discover this was a worthy endeavor? Happy everyone is "finally onboard" with doing the obvious regarding player development /sarcasm 5:14 "If you get caught in the middle..." -- Coming from a pitcher who has ------- I'm just going to stop here. I like Gray but c'mon even his name screams middle. 5:29 "It's so clear they [Cards] trust the young players..." -- then Woo quickly references Donovan (28) and Nootbaar (turns 28 in September) who are entering their primes lol and at least one should be traded soon to speed up The Great Rest of 2025. Given the only major lineup turnover thus far -- and maybe at all -- is Goldy's departure, outside of a lot of WW noise 2025 approach doesn't feel much different from 2024.
