It's odd to think how GPS changed how they cut a field. Back and forth like row crops instead of round and round in circles

I’ve noticed some of the wheat guys run with the reels almost all the way forward and quite a ways down, even in good standing wheat. Anybody have a reason why? Seems like they would be risking some header loss doing that. Years ago, with auger heads, the rule was always back and up in good standing wheat.
