The most crazy part about it is that it isn't just the most elaborate music box. There is a need for the player to actively play the guitar, pull the correct levers at the correct time, and then there is intermission. This is not just a feat of engineering but also a true display of skill.

It was neat seeing this when it came out. I listened to Wintergatan for at least a year before on Soundcloud and was very proud they made it big. If you haven't heard "Paradis" yet and have 14 minutes to spare, you should check it out too! The Marble Machine is awesome but Paradis has a truly delightful progression and a comparatively marginal listenership. In fact, it seems to have remained one of their most unknown works.

I have never stopped played the flute for 7 years. I certainly know a vibraphone. But even though words are in English on it, this is Scandinavia wood construction. The thing that worries me about the Marble Machine X is all the clicking it does. I'm afraid it will ruin the melody. This machine was darn near silent.

Actually, MMX is much quieter compared to the OG Marble Machine. You can hear at different point in this recording the sound of all the gears meshing while MMX is near silent with the gears

The imperfection of the machine makes this video so much better. There's something poetic about the marbles rolling the on floor in the dark after the machine has just come to an end.

I played the flute for 7 years. I was the first chair flutest for my school Symphony. Seeing a machine like this is absolutely mind blowing. Did he build it or was it someone else? I also became a weaver and spinner... Judging from the wood of construction he lives in Scandinavia... Norway Sweden or Denmark, or at least the machine was made there
