Step by step how we winterize a custom shaped in ground gunite pool with an attached hot tub. Stay tuned for our next video where we install a custom safety cover onto this same pool.

Definitely one of the best videos I have watched!!! When u blow the air through the jets, do u remove all the plugs first from the heater, pressure gauge, etc? Or do u remove that at the end?? Could u please do some more videos on closings so that we can learn from different pools?? Thanks sooo much!!! :)

Thank you! I like to pull all the drain plugs first and start blowing this will clear the equipment of water and moisture, sometimes we have to put plugs back in to get more pressure when blowing but I always like to start with them out. I will try and make some more closing videos we are so busy right now it’s very hard to but if things slow a bit and I can I will definitely try and get some more videos out on closings. Every pool is different so there are many ways and techniques to closing pools.

Awesome video! Very thorough and clear. What happens if the return lines on both spa and pool are lower than usual? I see your return lines in pool are about a foot or two deep and you drained it below. But if it's like 4 ft or 5 ft deep do you still drain it that low to blow it out?

What size plug do you use inside the pump On the pump side. I have a pentair/intelliflo 3hp 4 Speed pump.

Hey there great video! I have a poolside spillover spa. How do I winterize that? I know how to blow out all the lines but do I leave the tub empty for the winter? The reason I ask is the manufacturer for this one says you should never empty the water out of it for long periods

We like to drain them halfway and just monitor the water over the winter its not good to leave them empty, if it fills up just have to take some water out over the winter months.

If u put a plug in the pump after blowing the main drain…but then at the end u remove the main drain plug and put all the plugs in the pump basket and closed the basket. Then doesn’t they defeat the purpose of it and the main drain can still be leaking??? Sorry, I’m just trying to learn and I’m confused by this…

If the valve seals you technically don’t need the plug but in most cases after you plow a drain and shut the valve you can listen to the front of the pump and hear that is not sealed and that’s why we always back it up with a plug. We didn’t show it in this particular closing but we typically put the basket back in blow the lines and plug it so we don’t lose the air lock. It takes a lot for a drain line to freeze up they are so deep under the pool but it’s always best to make sure it’s blow out and air locked properly.
