I don't know how many times I've seen this video but it warms my heart each time. Renee seems so overwhelmed by her feelings, by the surprised, she can't believe it and Lucy is so funny, so trying to cheer her up. They missed each other so much. I think Ren only wanted to finish the show to go and hug and talk to Lucy like friends and hung out with her.

Lucy cracks me up 😂 she actually stayed in character for quite a bit. Haha. You can see Renee was touched, but always thought it was funny, but just wanted to hug and catch up with her friend.

yeah! both of them played on it and the writers did help a lot too! also, there are a lot of interviews with rob tapert (director and lucy's husband) in which he says it was on purpose and that they were a couple in the show. it's just not "canon" because the broadcasting media didn't want it to happen because it was the 90's and that was a family show. But it's still one of the best relationships ever portrayed in television and they're the mothers of subtext and shipping basically! :D

Interesting that some folks didn't pick up on the subtleties between Xena and Gabrielle. It isn't about sex. It's about intimacy between those two characters.
