Continuing our journey through outback Queensland, we arrive in Winton, having travelled from Mount Isa down the “Mathilda Way”.
Little did we know that Winton, and seemingly most of this region, closes for the summer season at the end of September, two days before we arrived! Oh well..
The Waltzing Matilda centre in the middle of town was till open so we spent a few hours in there.
The local bakery was also open, so we bought a pie there!
The big highlight of this trip however was a visit to the “Age of Dinosaurs” museum and the following day a 110Km trip to see the “Dinosaur Stampede” at Lark Quarry, two fascinating and informative days.
