Actually at first India was pretty pro-soviet so yeah, it's just politics, at that time Nixon being friendly to China was actually more possible because of the Sino-Soviet Split and would pose much more of a threat since China is right at the Soviet border. The US doesn't really care about "democracies" since they have no problem with countries like Saudi Arabia, as long as there are benefits.

Russia gave info to India that UK and US is coming to attack India in the name of some excercise. India requested for help. Russian subs came all the way, that too they came silently right below US and UK aircraft carriers and showed up all suddenly which literally shocked both. Russia stood right between us and them. I was surprised that this video doesn't even mention the fact that Tibetan SFF army played an instrumental role in winning this India's war with Pakistan in 1971. Beyond this, SFF won over the Kargil war in 1990s, at Siachen glacier and most recently capturing the vantage points in Ladakh border with China. The role played by Indira Gandhi in '71 is resounding. She displayed shrewd and analytical mind when she appreciated the terrain analysis expounded by COAS which clearly suggested that any attack before and during the rainy season will restrict the move of the Army to roads , making it a sitting duck. She asked COAS to address Pak Army on the All India Radio , assuring humane treatment if it surrendered. Had such assurance been conveyed by letter, it certainly would not have been believed . This assurance on AIR was heard by the entire World and was now binding on India. This resulted in Pak Army lowering resistance to surrender, more so as Seventh Fleet had failed to arrive in time in support.

I would still say Pakistan soldiers were much more braver than the American-Afghanistan army who gave up without a fight. The forces had the most supreme war equipment that can be used yet they gave up without a fight. In 1962, when our army lost to china and china was coming in, yet the villagers of Arunachal fought with whatever utensils they had.

This is the best documentary I have seen on the 1971 indo-pak war. No politics, only facts. 👍👌 One major point missed by the media and authors on this subject is the magnanimity shown by India. Having won the war, India did not annex East Pakistan even though it was once a part of India. India gave the country to Bengali Muslims. This generosity has gone unappreciated. As a student of History, I don’t find any parallel to this magnanimity anywhere in the world.

Because there was no country called 'India' before establishing the East India Company. We were all in the same country, mate. We Bengali didn’t liked British oppression, they wiped out, East & West Pakistan got independence, then India. And after that Wes Pakistan was betraying so they also wiped out with the helping brother India. And We got 3 independent countries. We the one who always was /& is the key factor in this region. And again, if India interfere with our matters today, we may fight India as well. But we consider India as our friendly country.
