In a significant diplomatic maneuver India has launched its commitment to assist Bangladesh in the conservation and management of Teesta river effectively looking to grab the edge over China in its influence on the Bangladesh issue.

This so called generous diplomat calling teesta an indian river just because it originates from india. First of all, when a river crosses more then one country, its an international river and you are bound to share waters. Second, Imagine those rivers originated from china and pakistan are named as chinese and pakistani rivers by both countries, generous india will take no time to take the matter to the UN.Infact generous india even has water sharing agreement with enemy nation pakistan but not with so called friendly nation Bangladesh. @@Kasar555 If you heard her words in the end ,you'll hear that she literally termed the river 'Indian'.And for your information, already 11 hydroelectric projects, dams and barrages are made by india. Who knows how many more to be built in near future. By constructing such projects you're obstructing water fall significantly. As a result the river on the bangladesh side is almost dead. But during monsoon you just keep the gates open to flow waters and bangladesh gets flooded every single year.

The Teesta River runs to the east of the city of Siliguri, in the Siliguri Corridor. About 80 km from Siliguri and 4,000 meters above lies Doklam, which is occupied by the PLA. Supplies heading to the northeastern states need to cross the Teesta River, India built bridges over it. The Siliguri Corridor is entirely within the range of China's long-range rocket launchers PHL 03, which have a range of 140 km. In a war, the bridges over the Teesta River will be destroyed, cutting off the connection to the northeastern states.
