Welcome to an off-day WIP and Chat! This video is a little more heavy and emotional, so please keep that in mind. If you aren't up for that today, it gets lighter around the 16-minute mark. This is probably the most vulnerable I've been about my (very first-world) struggle with being a content creator, and I hope you'll hear through the clumsy words to my intentions.

Katie: The thing about negative comments (often mean spirit ones) is that they are only one side of an argument. Meaning others have a different opinions about you. Vastly different in fact. That is not to dismiss or diminish the impact of vicious attacks which can be disorienting and creators of self-doubt. But I gently urge you to lean on us your subscribers who admire you, appreciate what you are doing (which is not easy in the least) and support your brilliant content. Yes, some say that feedback is a gift, but do consider the source; if armed with fangs: ditch the lot! Not worth your time. You are a kind, nurturing person and deserve to be treated accordingly. This is your channel and nobody should abuse you in any way. Block people like that. They should not have a platform to spread their negativity and hateful behavior and they should certainly be denied the opportunity to promote others without your expressed consent. BTW I have learned a lot from you and enjoyed seeing you on your recent live. 💖 You are doing an amazing job and have many, many supporters like this old lady, who love what you do, admire you and appreciate your gentle spirit. Keep shinning dear one. Keep shinning!!!! 🤗💖

Celebrities have to deal with trolls constantly. It isn't personal. Trolls just want their poisoned pens (keyboards) to score a direct hit...to hurt, to discourage, to make someone else miserable. Katie, usually I do not do a lot of commenting but I felt impressed to comment after watching your video. I have been diamond painting less than a year and you are are in my top three that I watch every time you post. so many things to say. 1. That pen is gorgeous. 2. i love the colors in your canvas you are working on in this video. 3. I'm so glad Micah is enjoying school. 4. I watch a lot of creators. Every time I do, I see a bunch of likes, and 1 dislike. Sometimes a couple dislikes. The dislike goes up for everyone, it seems. I heard a few other creators mention it. Sometimes the dislike goes up as soon as the video is posted. I think some of these trolls really need to get a life. 5. You are one of my favorite creators! I understand having self doubt, but as Jon Gordon says in his books, you need to Feed the Positive Dog. Your content is refreshingly different, and you present things in an organized way. I have learned a lot from you, and I've been doing this for a year. So, I'm not a newbie. Personally, I hate hearing my voice recorded and my hands are in terrible shape with dry cracked skin, so you will never see me having a channel-- KUDOS to you for putting yourself out there. 6. I’m so sorry for your experiences this week. Sending you big hugs!! I think we all have to handle the negativity in our own ways, but deleting and blocking are useful tools for boundary setting. The beauty of people coming our playground is that we get to set the rules all the time. 🥰 I have a 0 tolerance policy for personal jabs, and they result in instant blocking, but the boundary you choose to set is the one we will all respect wherever that might be for your comfort and mental wellness. Your channel is fantastic, you are a top notch person, and we have your back all the way!! ❤️❤️❤️

Katie: I know this is a much older video but I just recently found your channel (2 months now) and this just touched me. I have been diamond painting for 2 1/2 years now but just found events in August and found your channel because of Drills and Chills. You inspired me to start a channel because I talk about Diamond Painting at work constantly and no one knows what I am talking about (haha). However I am finding that while making the videos makes me so happy, once I post them I start getting all the negative voices in my head of self doubt and just self ugliness! I don't say this as a form of self promotion but rather to say that hopefully I found this video at the right time because it does give me hope. 🦢 grace and beauty like you and your channel 💛 It’s hard to not take things personally sometimes. But something to remember, sadly, is that people who are unkind are so because they are unhappy. It’s more about what they are going through in life than you. Happy people don’t go around looking to tear others down. Also, it may be helpful if sometimes your hubby scrolls through comments before you do and deletes the trolls. Not because you can’t handle it, but because you really don’t need to see it. Reading and/or rereading the negativity isn’t helpful. And a lot of times it’s hard to not remember and then keep thinking about mean things people say to and about us. Your channel is SO good!! You are so kind and CLASSY. And that’s why your channel is growing so much. And because you share great information and inspiration, of course! 😁

Regarding your "I just needed to get this done," with the containers - I don't know if you have anxiety but I do, and am the same way. I get something in my head that I want to find, or do, and I will spend an entire day trying to figure out either where to buy it or how to make it/do it. Whatever the thing is. It will keep me up at night if I can't get whatever it is I'm focused on finished.

Intrusive thoughts are the worst but we just have to remember they are not true! I gave my intrusive thoughts the voice of a politician I can’t stand and it makes it much easier to ignore those thoughts that way!

Working on Garden at Argentiuel by Monet for summer with the masters. It's an epic size and I'm just at one corner -- not even finished that part yet. Pressing on though. I have a space for hanging it in my home so that is encouraging. Speaking of encouraging, don't let the trolls bother you. When I see a negative comment I delete it sometimes before I read the whole comment. That helps me a lot. Negativity -- no room for it. We are spending our time producing content and don't need to hear negative comments. They can watch another channel, in my opinion. Keep on going -- I love your channel and you are doing a fantastic job with it. 🦅

Trolls are an unfortunate part of being a creator on YT, but 99% of the time, I block and delete negative comments. There are very rare times I will leave a comment/conversation up if it proves a point, and helps others. Just know you are an amazing and wonderful person, and keep doing what you love to do. Try not to let the negativity get to you (I know this is easier said than done). I personally feel great when I have negative comments and just block and delete. Hi Katie, first let me say I love your channel and thank you for sharing. Second...my Mother always told us, that if we don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. I don't think parents give those lessons anymore (I'm 65) so folks just spout off because they don't know about giving grace to others. There are going to always be some bad apples in the bunch. My personal experience is that you have to breathe and turn the other cheek with those who tend to always find fault in others instead of praising. It's not you it's something they are going through and if they are miserable they lash out. You cannot worry about what others think. It took me years to retrain myself. I would rather live a positive fun filled life than listen to those who are always negative. I pray for them. I feel your videos are calming and informative and enjoy them. I am sorry I missed your live video. Hopefully I can get in on your next one and I do agree if you have a video on a specific subject, stick to the subject. It's not a free for all chat room. Hi Katie! I watch and love all of your videos. I have ordered a canvas for Old Master event from Homespun Hobby and hopefully will be able to get it in time to participate. I just want you to know that you have way more people like me.....people who are quiet but are absolute supporters of you and your channel, than there are of those rude but outspoken few who don’t have the decency to realize that you are a real person with real feelings and not just a robot performing a service for the community. I’m so sorry that you had to experience that. I honestly cannot think of a more kind and conscientious creator than you. You don’t deserve that crap. Delete the comment and don’t give them another thought. They are the extreme minority of your viewership. Glad to hear that Micah is enjoying Preschool and that Connor had a great birthday. I've been working on my Crown Jewel Canvas and it has had its ups and downs. First, I had to get use to the glue. I like to slide my drills around and you can't do that. My biggest issue is the drills. A lot of the drills are raised and won't stay laying flat. I can run my hand across the canvas and just feel them. I've never had that issue before. I also have a fair bit of gapping and the worse happens to be the lighter colored drills. And I am not multi-placing. I will be interested to see what you think of your drills when you get a chance to work on your canvas. This experience is not making me excited to work on my blank canvas. I think I'm going to put that off for a bit. Regarding the negative comments, I'll just leave a quote from one of my favorite Mary J. Blige songs, "Work That" : Girl be yourself That's why I be myself And I'm gonna love it Let em get mad They gonna hate anyway Don't you get that? Doesn't matter if you're going on with their plan They'll never be happy Cause they're not happy with themselves 🕊🦅
