WIP Cybermidi (Norns-to-Norns MIDI over IP)

First test of a WIP mod to allow Norns to send MIDI to one another over OSC. Works pretty okay!

Oh my goodness. I need to know more details. If this really works, it may have solved my endless search for the perfect sequencer script + hardware pairing to blend with my rig.

How does the scale shifting work? I noticed that the melody on the half grid resolves to the 6th note in the major scale at the end of each pattern, while the notes before it which remain lit in the same positions relative to the 6th, changes when the chord degree on the full grid changes. It's magnificent.

Haha, that's why I made it! This is the logical conclusion of the Teletype stuff you were asking about earlier. There's just a lot more that can be done with Norns+Crow. Check out the link in the description for the latest- some of the videos and documentation are not quite up-to-date and I'm in the middle of a big update that is going to change a bunch of stuff.

​ @daughtersofdivorce6803 TBH, this example was just for testing this MIDI over OSC mod so the actual interaction between the patterns here is almost nonsensical. Basically, Dreamsequence has a CV and MIDI "harmonizers" that accept any notes/voltage and then map that to the active chord (triad or 7th) or mode (with or without diatonic transposition based on the chord degree). The harmonizer expects to be fed a chromatic sequence, but the Grid/Norns on the right in this test was actually outputting notes from some mode (probably C Maj). So this resulted in some big gaps in the intervals and I didn’t even know what it would produce. All this is to say: Dreamsequence already has a built-in sequencer so doing this sort of thing with more control is a lot simpler and only requires one Grid+Norns. The more interesting use-case for this work-in-progress would be syncing up some other type of chromatic sequencer, which I’ll hopefully get around to trying out soon enough.

@@ModularBeat thank you so much for the thorough explanation. Between my Sinfonion, Stochastic Inspiration Generator, and this sort of set up, I feel like I've got every type of sequencing control needed.
