That's a great idea and I really like the fact that you decided to start right now and not leave it for later! I've been trying to reduce my WIPs too since the start of 2024. I started with 60 and I am down to 56 right now. I only work on 12 active WIPs so that I can see more progress and more finishes. I am also on no new starts mode, apart from a couple of SALs that I join every year, but I have to complete them in 2024. 6 finishes in 2024 (I started 2 SALs) and I am aiming for 12 finishes in total, hoping to drop down to 50 WIPs by the end of the year. Also, I included my 5 oldest WIPs in my active list. I will allow new start if I manage to get the 12 finishes for the year! Good luck to all of us who try to reduce our WIPs!

This is my first time seeing one of your videos. I love this idea!! I've been feeling really pressured by my WIPs too; I think I'm at about 25. But until last year (when I discovered Flosstube 😂) I was a mostly monogamous stitcher, with about 3 active WIPs at any time. I think I'll be WIP-ing down too. Thanks for sharing this idea!!❤❤

I am amazed at how many full coverages you do and am envious as i would love to do a Gandalf but too chicken, for my son.

Great idea Jamie, I wish you all the good luck with this idea. I can’t follow you as I am the person with 200ish wips (about 115 are fc) and I want to start more. Love your videos. Stitching greetings

I have been feeling exactly the same! Time to focus and try not to get distracted by ALL the shiny new things 😂 I have 34 and I think my personal happy place is in the high teens-20s number. The main issue are the sheer size of so many of mine 😆 Good luck girl! 😘🤗

I want to wip down as well. But I also want to start Rose Library and the library of dogs. So I have the feeling that for me, its going to be a fail. But my goal is now to stitch on every wip this year. Happy crafting

I've been trying something similar but it seems as much progress as I get, I keep starting more things 😂 I hope you have success with your plans. Happy stitching! ❤

I love your idea. I am also on the fence of doing that as my stitching time has been reduced. So it will take time to have less but it will be so good to just have few projects in progress

Good luck with your goals for finishing wips! I am feeling the urge to start a new project but i only have 2 wips, and one has just one evening left of stitching. My problem is pattern hoarding 😂😂😂

I'm really excited to follow you through this journey, no matter how long it takes. I'm also curious about how it will affect the way you stitch and how you think/feel about your projects over time. For me it changed so much over my 3 year journey down to 4 WIPs, in a very positive way.

Good luck in reaching your goal, I am always amazed how people manage to organize so many wips. I do allow myself some wips but I usually spread them across different crafts. That way my brain doesn't guilt trip me into thinking that I should finish xy first. For example I have a spinning, crochet or knitting, sewing and 2 or 3 stitching wips. The stitching wips are one each of the following categories: Long dog sampler, full coverage, Mirabilia/Nora corbett, Mill hill, etsy. I am also a gamer and DM a D&D campaign, so I always have a bit on my plate 😅

Great idea Jamie. I think it will keep the "pressure" off. There are some stitchers who love a 100/200 etc around them, while others don't. I'm now at the stage I want to get three more finished then give it a break for a while going onto another hobby. The way I'm going it will take a long time lol. Have a good week. Take care🤗🇬🇧

I don’t have too many wips (16) but I have 3 tubs of patterns. I started a pattern diet last year. I have been kitting up new starts from my pattern stash. Of course tastes change but I have plenty I still want to stitch. I always enjoy your updates

Great plans! Have you thought about picking one chart that's close to a finish and working 1 strand a day or 25-50 stitches a day. This can be rotated out weekly or monthly. I miss your wheel 😂

This is what I need to do with my knitting projects. I have only 3 crossstitch projects rn but manyyyy more knitting and crocheting projects.

I have been in the same mindset of WIP down but UGGGG it is hard. I like that you are just jumping in and not starting at the end of the year, that has given me some perspective. I LOVE people's process videos and how they come up with the how and why and exactly their plans on how to tackle things. I have an atrocious number of WIPS. How will you tackle any new patreon charts? That is where I get excited to start something new b/c creators are always tempting us, would it even be worth it to be a part of a patreon knowing you have these rules, it is a struggle I have lol Oh also, how will you handle cropping, like sometimes I get into a chart that might be over 100k but then I am like gosh I could crop this down to be under 100k so then would you just slide it into that category? Full coverage charts that can be cropped in a whole thing I have started.

I don’t have many stitching WIPs but my knitting WIPs are crazy! I am working hard to stick to knitting on my WIPs with very few cast ons. Your plans sound great for your stitching practice. I assume you are happy with your knitting projects. Good luck with your new plans. 💜

I have a similar goal, I have 31 WIPS. I am going to fill in my WIPGO 2025 board by adding the WIP I am working on finishing to the board on the number called. Hard to explain, but basically if I am working on finishing Kringles and Mother Moon I will put them on whatever numbers are called that month. I will work on two projects at a time until they are finished. I know we can do this!!! Happy Stitching 😀🧵🪡🧶🪡

I currently have 5 larger wips and want to start several more, but 2 of my current ones are gifts and they NEED most of the attention. So no new starts right now. Hopefully early next year.

Great plans!! I have recently been thinking about this slot. I recently added up the few wips I had in the table by my chair I sit in. I thought I bet I could finish these in 5 years (most full coverage). I was wrong, OVER TEN YEARS based on how many stitches I average each month. 😞. This really has changed my way of thinking and yesterday I went through most of my wips and purged ones I like but just can’t picture finishing or wanting to hang. I feel better and am going to continue to try to whittle it down even more.
@Ofelia-122 ай бұрын
I scrapped a bunch of full coverage projects too. I went from around 20 down to 4 WIPs in 3 years. My original calculations had my WIP down time at like 20+ years even if I stitched for hours every day. A lot of full coverage projects that had little progress on them got scrapped and I haven't regretted it at all. Starting this journey was the best decision I could've made and I wish you luck on yours.
@christinaharris98532 ай бұрын
Yes, exactly. Many projects had just a couple of threads. Just complete impulse starts. I will be happier once it’s much more manageable. So far no regrets, just want to narrow things down more.

Great plans! I have over 60 WIPs and I’ve been trying to wip down, I think this is the kick in the behind I need to catalogue my WIPs and their current status to wip down. 😊 thanks so much for the video and motivation.

This is a great idea! I love the large vs small idea. I have like 15 WIPs I think and I try to stay around there because I love having finishes but love huge projects. I’m still deciding what to do next year for goals but SammyJ Stitches has categories so you could copy some of hers
