This will always have a place in my heart. Aged 5 I had moved with my parents from an utter dump called Acomb (in Yorkshire) to a nice new school. This would be on every time I came home, so it represents a new start in my mind.

What a fantastic "forgotten" show. It would be great to see other classics on Challenge in the future like Leslie Crowther's Price is Right.

Its faster than the original broadcast because challenge tv have done a bad job editing it. When it was first on BBC Paul Daniels frequently added interesting(?) facts about the answers and other bits of small talk. This and other versions you rarely get that - just a run of answers.

R.I.P Paul Daniels

Interesting you should comment - I was about to say I preferred Paul's version prior to seeing your comment. I think it was changing the prize structure (ie to £50 per correct instead of a progressive £10, £20, etc)

Rod: It's a guess bookbinder Paul: Book binder... *wipeout sound* Paul: It was a guess, it was not a good guess it was a bad guess.

Wrong. Wipeout itself originated in the USA in the late 80's. Turnabout debuted in 1990.

He was great on Stars in Their Eyes. Matthew Kelly was very good too. Cat Deeley I found boring on that programme and she I believe killed what was a great show. I have most of the early years on DVDs and I never get tired of watching them.

Heh, I like how there's Hot-Spots on the Wipeout answers too. (hey, I'm from US, I'm allowed to use a US term)
@cutemimi259 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Rae Yeah the Mystery prizes are better than the Hot-Spots, also unlike the US version the UK version you keep the prize both good and bad answers no matter what happens.

Cut to shreds, people laughing when no joke told, no explanation of answers. I wish someone would post these old PD episodes in their original broadcast format.

No I mean The Price is Right with Leslie Crowther, made by Central TV between 1984-1988. Bruce's was OK but it's time Leslie's got a look in.

The daytime version with Bob Monkhouse was so poor compared the pizzaz of the original with Mr Daniels. Great stuff!
@JimmySand917 жыл бұрын
This is even faster than the orginal American version.

Fucking hell that wipe out noise is eerie as hell.

Damn right - Leslie's show was far superior in my opinion. Likewise I would love to see Leslie Crowther's era of 'Stars in their eyes' again - he was a far better host than the king of smarm in my opinion.

Is this not a rip -off of turnabout with Rob Curling.
