@@Philippineballツ There is a popular version sung by the hitler youth, but the song is about Florian Geyer, a knight form the 16th century, whom you can't really associate with Nazis based on his actions. The song was written in 1920 from what I know, based on a poem about Florian Geyer made in 1880 or something.

Technically not a landsknechts song since this was made in the early 1900’s from earlier poetry. Also it’s from the perspective of peasants which were later defeated by landsknechts. This is a proud peasants song!

@@raulsiniallikl2317 "Wir sind des Geyers schwarzer Haufen is an interwar-era German marching song. Composed around the 1920s, the lyrics of the song are sourced from the poem Ich bin der arme Konrad[1] by the Bavarian poet and artillery officer Heinrich von Reder (1824-1909). The melody of the song is arranged by German songwriter and later National Socialist[2] Fritz Sotke (1902-1970) in 1919." yeah, authentic 16th century german culture right there
@raulsiniallikl2317 Жыл бұрын
@@G0th1cpar0dia669543 when you started googling wikipedia, then you should have copy- pasted also this: The song's title (translates. "We are Geyer's Black Bunch") and lyrics are references to Florian Geyer (1490 - 10 June 1525) and his Black Company, a heavy cavalry unit which fought on the side of the Peasants during the German Peasants' War. Geyer's Black Company was notorious with his contemporaries for their destruction of cathedrals, castles, and summary executions of clerics and noblemen. The song's lyrics capitalise on this notoriety, with references to the actions of the Black Company: "Setzt aufs Klosterdach den Roten Hahn!" ("Raise the red rooster [flames] upon the Cloister Roof!") So yes, unfortunately this video has no original text and melody, but it is closest we can get... And it still sounds damn good

@@raulsiniallikl2317 That's hardly the point, what I'm saying is that contrary to the original claim, it is no more an authentic piece of centuries old culture than "The Bloody Verdict of Verden". It is merely inspired by history.

I'm not entirely sure how this would count as a landsknecht song, given its text was from the end of the 1800s and the song itself was put together after ww1. To call it a 'folk song' is also a bit weird. That said, I'm glad that the uploader actually added that context. So many other channels just say it's a 'folk song' or something and call it a day.
@dr.ludwig Жыл бұрын
Ofc I can also do mistakes and songs I uploaded years ago might have more than now. But yes I also correct my content whenever I get a good comment about it. The information in brackets [ ] however, doesn't automatically imply from which time it is, but rather which style or type of song it is. Even today I can write lyrics for a Landsknecht style song and can call it a Landsknecht song. It's then not an original one, but a modern one.
@ugk1106 Жыл бұрын
A folk song is not defined wether its created in WWI or not. The definition is if the content is transported over some genertions. So its >100 years now and per definition definately a folk song. And its topic and story telling is also. The story is telling is about the blood Easter of Weinsberg in 1525 and the killing of the Count of Weinsberg. You can wiki it.

Hab sie dazu geschrieben, sowas kann immer gern in den Kommentaren erwähnt werden, dann änder ichs ab. Ich kopier immer die Originalliedtexte rein, das kann natürlich bei jedem Sänger abweichen. It is weird that this song was adopted by the NSDAP and not the, you know, actual socialists/communists. If they changed the chorus to _"setzt aufs Klosterdach die Rote Fahn'"_ ("put the red flag upon the monastery roof"), it would have made a perfect companion piece to "Der Heimliche Aufmarsch" (which calls upon the workers to place their Red Banners of Labor on every ramp and every factory).
