The restraint here is killer. One of my favorite things about Robert's drumming is how he HAS cymbals, he just rarely needs to use them. He gets the point across either way.

Chicago, Metro, 87: Robert had only a bass, a tom, and a hi-hat. No lack of sound, though. Awesome.

Just shows ta go ya...almost anything can be found on KZbin! One of my favorite groups. When I mention Wire to most people, I get that thousand yard blank stare. Good to see so many fans. If I hadn't been working in a record store in the late 70's, there's a good chance I would never have heard these guys.

Indeed. Innovation of this caliber is rarely appreciated in it’s own time. I’d be willing to bet the farm that if you could time travel 500 years into the future, there will be entire college courses centered around Wire’s body of work. It’s definitely going to take some time for the world to catch up and catch on.

Between Wire (and The Jam), simply the best modern British poets on the planet. No Quarter. Here be Muses. God herself love Graham's bass, and the rest of the band just do this so fucking well... This is like grandmother tucking you into bed at night, nothing better.

Great song! However, just like most of their songs I haven't a clue what it's about but the words sound beautiful juxtaposed with a beautiful melody.
@pablobrad1004 жыл бұрын
The overwhelming number of their songs aren’t ‘about’ anything. Graham writes the lyrics as ‘emotion poems’. They are surreal words chosen for their shape, angle & weight but based in human emotion.
@mbrady23294 жыл бұрын
If I'm not mistaken, the inspiration for the lyrics came from tabloid headlines.

I WOULD BRING THIS CASSETTE "A BELL IS A CUP UNTIL STRUCK" UP TO THIS DROP DEAD GORGEOUS GIRLS HOUSE BACK IN 1988 WHO HAD UNPARALLELED BEAUTY THAT I FELL IN LOVE WITH. DATED HERE FOR MONTHS AND SHE WOULD NEVER SLEEP WITH ME. IF I TOLD YOU WHO SHE WAS YOU WOULD NEVER BELIEVE IT. JUST OPEN UP YOUR BIBLE. I ALSO BROUGHT UP THE CASSETTE "THE IDEAL COPY", REMEMBER THE THE DEVIL WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ANGEL. I ALSO BROUGHT AND ALWAYS LISTEN TO THAT CASSETTE TOO, HENCH THE GOD INSPIRED TITLE "THE IDEAL COPY". LOOK UP THE MEANING OF "IDEAL". WIRE IS ONE OF MANY BANDS CONVEYING PROPHECY AND SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES FROM GOD CHRIST. READ ACTS 2:17-21 IN THE BIBLE AND IT WILL SHOCK YOU WHAT CHRIST HAS DONE. GOD INSPIRED MUSIC. WIRE WAS BRINGING FORTH MESSAGES AND PROPHECY AND LIKE MANY OTHER BANDS NEVER KNEW IT. LIKE THEY SAY " THE LORD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS",

@@hellowhirled MORE LIKE BRINGING FORTH PROPHECY AND WIRE WAS NEVER AWARE OF IT AS WELL AS MANY OTHER BANDS LIKE INSPIRAL CARPETS, ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN, THE MIGHT LEMONS DROPS, THE CHAMELEONS, AND YOU HAVE TO LAUGH AT GOD'S SENSE OF HUMOR OF NAMING THE BAND THE CHAMELEONS. WHICH IS GOD'S WAY OF RIDICULING THE DEVIL, BECAUSE THE DEVIL AND THE HIGHER STAGED ANGELS HAVE THE ABILITY TO TAKE MANY SHAPES AND FORMS, HENCH "THE CHAMELEONS. THESE GOD INSPIRED SONG CONTAIN SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES, PROPHECY, HINTS AND MANY OTHER THINGS. I'M WRITING A BOOK ON MY LIFE EXPERIENCE SO INCREDIBLE. THAT NOTHING LIKE IT EXISTS ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH LIKE IT AND NOTHING EVEN COMES REMOTELY CLOSE. IF YOU GO TO MY YOU TUBE CHANNEL AND READ THE DESCRIPTIONS IN SONG #8 THROUGH #16, IT WILL SHOCK YOU. THEY ARE PART OF THE STORY IN MY BOOK THAT I AM WRITING WHICH THE DEVIL DOESN'T WANT WRITTEN. Quelle merde.
@Frank2891004 жыл бұрын
@@finnkdy Quelle merde - CROCK OF SHIT BY NO MEANS. THE DEVIL IS A REAL LIVING BEING ALONG WITH HER/HIS/ITS LEGIONS OF ANGELS THAT ALL FELL. EVEN THOUGH THE WHORE SATAN/DEVIL DOES INSPIRED SOME MUSIC. I WILL ASSURE YOU LOTS OF MUSIC IS INSPIRED BY THE ALMIGHTY GOD WHO IS CHRIST, AND THERE IS TONS OF IT. LOOK AT BLACK SABBATH'S SONG 'WAR PIGS'. IT IS THE WORK OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD WARNING THEM UP IN THE PENTAGON WHO START NEEDLESS WARS TO SPILL INNOCENT BLOOD TO PLEASE THEIR MASTER SATAN OF THE JUDGEMENT TO COME. METALLICA'S SONG "JUSTICE FOR ALL" REALLY MAKES ME LAUGH. GOD HAS SUCH A TREMENDOUS SENSE OF HUMOR WITH LYRICS LIKE "HALLS OF JUSTICE PAINTED GREEN MONEY TALKING". TO CONTINUE MY STORY THERE WAS NEW WAVE RECORD SHOP IN JAMAICA QUEENS AREA THAT I CAME ACROSS YEARS BACK. IN A BAD BLACK NEIGHBORHOOD THAT I BOUGHT RECORDS AND CASSETTES FROM IN A 3-4 YEAR PERIOD (1989 -92) WHICH IS DESCRIBED IN THE BOOK I AM WRITING. FIRST OF ALL NOBODY PUTS A NEW WAVE RECORD SHOP IN A BAD BLACK NEIGHBORHOOD AND BETWEEN THIS 3-4 YEAR PERIOD OF BUYING CLOSE TO A 1000 RECORDS AND CASSETTES, WHICH I WOULD FREQUENT RECORD SHOP ONCE A WEEK. THERE WAS NEVER ANYBODY IN THIS RECORD SHOP BUYING RECORDS BUT ME. THE REASON THE DEVIL PUT THIS RECORD SHOP IN A BAD BLACK NEIGHBORHOOD WAS TO STOP THE FOOT TRAFFIC FROM COMING IN THE STORE. BECAUSE BLACKS DO NOT LISTEN TO NEW WAVE MUSIC AND WHITES WOULD NEVER GO INTO A BAD BLACK NEIGHBORHOOD TO BUY NEW WAVE RECORDS, WHEN THERE WERE MANY OTHER STORES IN SAFE PLACES THEY COULD GET THEM FROM. THE PURPOSE OF THIS RECORD SHOP WAS TO MONITOR EVERY PIECE OF MUSIC I BOUGHT BECAUSE THE DEVIL AND THE FALLEN ANGELS SUSPICION MANY OF THESE SONGS HAD SOME LINK TO ME. I ONLY REALIZED THAT YEARS LATER AFTER I FORFILLED THE PROPHECY IN THE SONG BY THE BAND INSPIRAL CARPETS CALLED "THE BEAST INSIDE" AFTER I PUT 6 BULLETS INTO THE DEVIL BEAST WHEN SHE UNLEASHED IT ON ME DOWN ASTORIA PARK OVERLOOKING THE MANHATTAN SKYLINE. INSIDE THIS RECORD SHOP WAS A GIRL WHO WAS A ELVIRA LOOK ALIKE. TALL WITH LONG BLACK HAIR AND MAKEUP IN A GOTHIC THEME AND WHO DO YOU THINK THIS PERSON WAS? IT WAS THE DEVIL HER/HIMSELF WHO HAS THE ABILITY TO TAKE EVERY SHAPE AND FORM. SHE WAS MONITORING EVERY PIECE OF MUSIC I BOUGHT. SHE TOLD ME ONCE THAT I WAS A STRANGE INDIVIDUAL AND THAT IT WAS EXTREMELY RARE FOR SOMEONE TO LIKE SO MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF MUSIC. IF I WAS TO TELL YOU THE SONG BY THE RAMONES (AND I MET JOEY YEARS BEFORE AND WAS SUPPOSE TO ROADIE FOR HIM WITH A COLLEGE FRIEND, BUT THE SPOT WAS TAKEN) "I WANNA LIVE" IS LINKED TO ME WHEN I KILLED THE BEAST. WHERE THE GUN MADE FROM FINE GERMAN STEEL DESCRIBED IN THE SONG WAS DESCRIBING THE GUN I KILLED THE BEAST WITH, BELIEVE IT. THIS IS GOD/CHRIST'S WAY OF ENTERTAINING HIMSELF AND WHY WE ARE ALL HERE. I WANT YOU TO GO TO MY YOU TUBE CHANNEL AND READ THE DESCRIPTIONS IN SONGS #8 THROUGH #16. THEY ARE PARTS OF MY STORY IN THE BOOK THAT I AM WRITING THAT THE DEVIL AND ITS ANGELS DON'T WANT WRITTEN. MY STORY SURPASSES LOTS OF STORIES IN THE BIBLE BECAUSE IT INVOLVES GOD/CHRIST AND ANYTHING WRITTEN FICTION AND NONE FICTION. WHAT YOU WILL READ WILL SHOCK YOU IN THE DESCRIPTIONS. AND THEY ARE A SMALL PART OF A TREMENDOUS STORY OF ME FACE TO FACE WITH THE DEVIL. I EVEN HAD SATAN IN MY BED DROPPING MY LOADS ON HER LIKE THE WHORE SHE TRULY IS.
