Thank you for a great tutorial! I made your ring as my first wire woven project and had fun with it. My 15 y/o daughter walked in the room before I had it shaped into a ring, picked it up and said it would make a great ring, she liked it and wanted it. Big compliment from my teen =)

Thank you, Jocelyn. It's a beautiful weave. I love your attention to detail, and how you spare your precious wire from waste. I've made a couple of these with copper, but, still lacking in courage to break out my ss wire. I've got to get over that!! Thanks, again, for another great tutorial. It's a sleepless night for me, and I was glad to see your upload.

Thanks for the tips and encouragement. I'm still a bit unsure about when I should use dead soft, vs half hard. Thinking just getting in there and working with it will afford me a better feel on that decision. I have some of the lower gauges in ds, but my higher gauges are all half hard. Will have to expand upon that. I've never worked with the silver filled, but have read it's a great alternative, especially considering the price point. I appreciate all the knowledge you share. Have a great day!!

Victoria Smith If you want to save the inner wire, just leave it on the spool. It doesn't really hamper you making the weaves. Just pull a bit out, maybe 6 inches or so, to get started with, then unroll and straighten as you need!

Tizzy Bennett lol I was using my husbands for so long because i didnt have a mandrel and when i finally got one, i ended up using it once and have kept using the sockets since im so used to them and already have the perfect sized ones for my needs.lol i really love them and i love that i dont feel bad if i end up scratching them up or somehow get dents in one since they can be found for pretty cheap to replace if needed.lol i find myself a hoarder with my more expensive tools and materials and sometimes i end up taking twice as long to make something using them trying not to mess em up.lol

Very nice tutorial, thank you for sharing! I do have one suggestion that may help others: Since I found it extremely hard to work from "right to left," I simply turned the entire piece around (upside down, if you will, but with the same side facing up). This was so much easier to maneuver the wire, as I personally find that working left to right to be much easier for me. I also made one of these into a toe-ring with much smaller swirls and it came out very cute! Thanks again for yet another great tutorial!!

I just want to share an idea of mine which helps keep the mandrel still. I tried to make a divot in the side of my workbench, to locate the thin end of the mandrel, and then wedge it with my body, but the wood was too hard. Then I had some inspiration, and stuck together two washers, with super glue, then glued it to the edge of the workbench. I can now place the thin end of the mandrel into the centre hole made by the two washers, and wedge the other end of the mandrel into my belly, and lean into the workbench, thereby allowing me to work with both hands and not have the mandrel moving about. Please share this idea.

Jocelyn do you happen to have any tutorials on how to shape a cat or cat form for jewelry with wire? I have tried and tried, even with drawing on paper to shape a decent cat form and I am having a really hard time doing it. Halloween is just around the corner and it would be an adorable piece of wire jewelry for occasions like this coming up.

At the ends of the ring - at the swirl, could you do the wire wrapping around and in between the swirls if you wanted to make the ring more stationary? In other words basically force a connection between the two halves of the ring? My Mom is an older adult, 83, and wears a size 4.5 on her ring finger to ensure it doesn't misshape when she takes the ring off and on. Also, my question is what happens to the wrapping if you try to harden the ring swirls by using a chasing hammer at the ends to flatten the swirls? Will this damage your wraps? Well done tutorial, thank you for your outstanding video and your patients to help you students worldwide! Greetings from Indianapolis, Indiana! Cheers😀

As always I love your videos, ur a fantastic teacher. I'sve learned much from your videos. I wanted to try this ring also, but I'm afraid is a bit above my experience level. I wonder if I could just do a total wrap instead of separating and doing the weave? Would that still be doable?

That ring is adorable!!!!! But one quick question on the wire ring making. I have made about 5 to 6 rings. Some with beading some without. And my thinner wire pieces that aren't having the small loop tend to come loose. Or something like that. And after a bit one of the wire end work up. And it then has a sharp point that can cut or hurt the wearier. Or snag clothing and possibly ruin the item. How can I fix that so I'm not getting a sharp point possibly hurting my family and friends or myself. Thank you

Beautiful ring .. excellent tutorial. Are you using sterling or silver filled wire in the video? I am new and have been practicing with bare copper (18g) or Artistic craft wire (18-20g) for the base wires and Artistic craft wire (24-26g for wrapping) - and can never get the base wire so straight! Am I fighting a losing battle with this type of wire? Thanks

Great video except the measurement for the 20 gauge. Since I wanted a size 8, I cut 3", which, when finished, I couldn't even get it to fit a size 4! And before you ask, my swirls are the perfect size. So what did I do wrong?

pesto12601 One of the tricks I use is painter's tape. Wrap your pliers with a piece of it, nice and tight. You still get grip and won't mark even the softest wire. It also comes off fairly easy with no residue. I also use painters tape when weaving strands of wire, instead of masking tape. Much less cleaning to do at the end.

Gemma Chater She didn't show measuring the wire for the ring in this video. You could try wrapping a piece of wire around your ring mandrel before you start and work out the size that way or try the same thing with the finger you want the ring to be on when it's complete.
