Love that your demonstrations are pulling the wire TOWARD you. I prefer weaving this way but most tutorials involve pushing wire away from you when wrapping. Thanks! Also, like that your instructions are not ‘wordy’.

Hi Robin, I most often do wind towards myself -- it me it's easier/faster -- although at times I will wind away if that is the path of least resistance, LOL. I try to not be wordy -- I don't always succeed, but I do try. Thanks for noticing! :D

Both shiny and antiqued are great! I use solely recycled copper (tubing, pipe and wire) so I get a mix by default. Watching your vids until I can do these by memory....my items are much more simplistic but you're giving me so many ideas on how to, simply, embellish my jewelry. Thanks!!

Thank you so much for your comment! I think it's great that you use the recycled copper - very cool. :) I'm glad you enjoyed the videos, and keep on weaving!

Beaded Jewelry Diva do you have any videos on making earring "embellishments"? I'd like to use your weaves on pieces connecting the sterling or surgical steel hook piece of earrings to the actual earrings I make out of wood and other materials. I'm sure I can figure it out but since you're the pro, I thought I'd ask! Keep up the great vids!

The project determines shiny or antique-look. I strip out my copper wire, thus it starts out shiny. I let it naturally "age" as that is what most of my customers like. Occasionally I clear coat the wire to maintain the shiny look. It all depends on the project. I never chemically age wire. Love working with copper. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom & talent with us newbies.

For me, it depends. I think antiqued looks good for more casual situations. The shiny seems more formal/elegant to me. I really like the shiny best, generally. My likes flip-flop with my mood, and the particular style. Love your lessons. Thank you!! I'm just learning and they are very helpful and clear.

I am brand new to wire jewelry. As far as "antiqued" or "shiney", it would depend on the colors of the beads I'm using & the colors of the other wire I'm using in the project. For someone who knows I'm making the piece for them, I would ask which they like. But, I first see which wire goes with beads & other wire I am using. If it's just the wire by itself, I prefer antiqued. Thank you so much for the wonderful videos & the inspiration.!

I did a couple of weaves like you taught. I am having trouble getting the stones to stay in the wrap, any suggestions?
@beadedjewelrydiva6 жыл бұрын
Hi Lori, I assume you mean cabochon stones, but it depends on what weave your are using, as to if my suggestions wil be useful. I typically like to use the basketweave as the primary weave when I want to capture a cab. And, since many times the cab doesn't want to cooperate, I will have to add some reinforcing spirals to the back of the setting, for added stability. I plan on a video in the next month or so, for a design that can be used with cabs, which may help a bit more than this explanation. Meanwhile, hope your day is going well! :)

I noticed that on the antique wire that the wire is looking green in places. Is there a way to keep this discoloration from happening?
@beadedjewelrydiva7 жыл бұрын
I have actually just learned how to make copper get a green patina (by accident), so I can say that if you do not want the green, keep the piece away from acid of any sort -- which could include lemon juice, vinegar, coffee, etc. If it does come in contact with something that is acid-y, rinse thoroughly and dry thoroughly right away.

What is the best wire for jewelry that is easy to work with and does not tarnish
@beadedjewelrydiva6 жыл бұрын
Hi Eva, I assume you mean a wire that doesn't cost a lot, or I would say fine silver. ;) Most metals tarnish, so if you don't want that, your best bet is to go with an enameled copper. You can get them in non-tarnish copper, non-tarnish gold and non-tarnish silver (as well as all kinds of colors). In my opinion. Parawire has the best coatings, as far as durability, but if you can't find it, Artistic Wire has some decent ones. Hope this helps! :)

When do u know which gauge of wire to use for die weaving one
@beadedjewelrydiva7 жыл бұрын
Hi Clarissa, I'm not sure what you are asking, but here are some thoughts. If I am making something that is going to get heavy wear and needs to be "stiff", like a bangle bracelet, I will use 18 or 16 gauge wire for the base (and sometimes even 14 gauge). For the weaving wire, I tend to use between 24 and 30 gauge -- the thicker the base wire, the thicker the weaving wire. When I work with pendants, I tend to favor 20 and 22 gauge for the base wire and 28 gauge for the weaving. I hope this helps!
