Ive been brainstorming this too . Wanted to do it with a other 1000 watt motor in front . Is there a way to have one controller operating two motors and pulling from two sequenced batteries maybe ? Lots of fun tricking these out !!

Actually yes as of yesterday I learned that you can link two flipsky controllers together! Still a complex process, much easier to just have two separate controllers. You can definitely run both controllers from one battery

I have done a couple of dual motor builds. Had fun doing them, too. But my advice is to stick with one motor, and just put however many watts you want all on the back wheel. With dual motor, you add a lot of unsprung weight on the front fork and ride quality is worse. The front motor can add climbing torque uphill on pavement but just peels out when off-road. I think more power at the rear wheel is a better option for higher performance. Either way you will need more battery though. The 20ah battery is already being pushed pretty hard by the 40a controller. So you can add battery, add a front motor, and add a controller. And you end up with more torque but not much difference in top speed. But if you add battery, replace the rear motor, and replace the stock controller, then you can also get a significant top speed boost. My very best advice is to leave it alone though. It is a good fast bike already and you probably chose it because it is a screaming good deal. You will spend a lot vs the amount of performance gained. I built a $2000 XP 2.0 LOL.

@jimmyjames8736 I was so torn about adding the second motor but this was the cheapest route for more power since I already had two batteries. I mostly wanted more torque. This thing will probably go 42-44mph, I definitely don't want to go faster than that

Thanks! It was a cost and practicality factor. You also lose pedal assist with different controllers. Fitment is harder too.

This may be a dumb question, but: How does the second battery affect the display for batt level..? Does it still work normally? Also, how did you make those mounting brackets?

I think you do have to adjust one of the settings in the display so the battery levels will read correctly. Mrmtr999 has a video showing how he adjusted it on his dual battery setup. Very good question. The mounting brackets were a diy project from some scrap abs plastic, scrap pieces of rubber with zip ties held on the battery by double sided gorilla mounting tape.

Hey MC,... nice mod! I was really impressed with your trial and error, and commitment to your vision. I have a WIRED Freedom. I was wanting to add a 60w 40ah battery, but was going to mount the batt on the back rack. (which I am in the process of redesigning). However,... I want a 750 watt geared hub in the front wheel because I want to utilize my horse as a trailbreaker as well as a cruiser. Any suggestions? Note: I was thinking of slaving the front motor to a torque sensor in the rear wheel to give PAS only (1-5)! Wouldn't THAT be some original insanity or what? I would do THAT to eliminate the front wheels loss of traction around corners and STILL give excellent top speed. ... Comments please. P.S.: I admire your dedicated inventiveness.

Thanks! 40ah is a big battery. I hear the front wheel wobbles at high speeds when there's a lot of weight on the rear rack. As for the second motor, I've been looking for a strong geared hub motor front wheel to buy for months and can't find one anywhere. You have to custom build it. Not sure how to do two pedal sensors but at you can definitely do two throttles and simply not use the front throttle around corners to prevent a loss of traction. If you ever find that motor laced into a 26x4 wheel with a 135mm dropout please let me know!

@maximumchargeEV mainly, I want to take the cradle and aux battery from my old Lectric xpremium and wire it into my Lectric XP 3.0 what would I need to have & do to safely, efficiently & effectively make that happen? Also, the xpremium has brake lights and the XP3.0 doesn't. if I just switch the handlebar part of the brakes will that transfer the brake light ability to my XP3.0? in other words, how much of the brake system would I have to switch to make that happen? the handlebar part or would I have to get into the mechanics that are in the tires? I have a very basic understanding &. ability to play with electronics but I don't know any of the in depth stuff where you truly understand it all. any responses from anyone, please give directions as if you're talking to an alien! lol thanks in advance! You obviously know what you're talking about even a short response will help a lot!

I done the shunt mod on mine no clamp meter test yet. Did tiny glob noticed a difference straight away. So i decided to cover the whole thing haha huge difference. Motors originally 1500w motor and 35amp controller so curious what im getting now. Tomorrows mission . Ima add a pack i made in series to increase voltage to 52v also cause caps inside say 64v and it has like 14 mosfets inside the controller so should be alright

Looking good man! I’m sure with a little more brainstorming you can come up with a more water resistant set up while maintaining better cooling. It’s not always in your control when water might be encountered. I’d personally want to at least get it back to OEM splash resistance. That’s a lot of money, blood sweat and tears to see up in smoke over an unplanned H2O encounter.. Awesome build man, thanks for sharing!

Wow, great modifications! I just purchased my WIRED Freedom, so it won't be here until May. Going to ride it stock until I am thoroughly familiar with it. However, your mods were very interesting. For starters I was particularly interested in the larger chain ring up front because I noticed it had chain retention guards on both sides of the chain instead of just on the outside. Did that come with the chain ring, or is that something you added on yourself? Thanks.

Also for the heat maybe get a rubber hose with the rings to hold it on. or lips? On connecting side. The type hose thing you would see on automotive valve covers.. cant explain well but that with a little downward turn on top and straight down on the bottom for water repellent. Find those from what ever automotive place and drill to fit size.

Not sure about all the small stuff, but the second battery was 500 bucks, battery blender was almost 100, and all the little stuff on top of that, probably almost 1k
