In this video, I talk about a conversation that I had over the phone with Steve from Wired Ebikes. Steve explains if the new Wired Freedom and Wired Cruiser have a torque sensor or a cadence sensor. Steve also explains an update on the second battery, as well as possible future changes to upcoming bikes.

The additions by Wired of a second battery, upgraded controller and larger rear brake to the Freedom will necessitate a response from ECells. I still want to see a side by side comparison of framesets and specifically the rear suspension linkages between the 5 Star and the Freedom. ECells also still has the double wall wheel sets to their advantage. The upgradability of suspension is something Wired needs to add. This is like watching a tennis match, with the winner being us the consumers.

Thank you for explaining the sensor. One of the biggest (small) things that I didn't like was having to buy extra insurance for the shipping. It should be just added to the shipping. It makes it seem like I am being 'nickel and dimed' to death. I would say having that button just turning that battery off, and keeping in reserve would be a huge deal. Kind of like a reserve switch on a motorcycle. I do like the step through design. It looks great!

💯 I like the bikes from wired, but I also like the bikes from E Cells. Both are great bikes but after I did the math, the E cells five star bike comes out to approximately $600 cheaper in the outdoor price compared to the wired freedom. Wired charges $300 for shipping, tax and the warranty is not nearly as good as E-cells so it’s really not a straight across the board comparison.
@RydinNStyle
@RydinNStyle 2 ай бұрын
Is that with the addition of the 2nd battery option?
@petrolo72
@petrolo72 2 ай бұрын
@@RydinNStyle no that is not with the new addition of the battery. But that doesn’t include the $100 front basket or the carrying bags that E Cells includes, so I suppose if you do the recalculation with all that, it is closer of a match in price, but the warranty is still much better with E Cells.

I paid $2106 after tax for the new wired cruiser for pickup. For me, I can say it's worth it being 1hr from their warehouse. Ecell charges 100 more for the cruiser and then alot more for an extra battery. Not to mention the performance upgrades like the new brakes and stuff.

Someone brought up a valid question on another video that never got answered, it looks like wired and ecells are using a 48 volt motor and pushing 60 volts through it for more speed and power but at the expense of motor longevity. Even if the motor can handle 60 volts, it will run hotter and most likely burn out much faster on 60 volts. Do you have any information to conform or dispell this claim?

Eliminate the second tail light and give us one with turn signals and an indication on the display that shows they are on. And while we're on displays, they should provide one that can be viewed with polarized sunglasses. Supposedly there is some kind of film you can apply to the screen to make it viewable(?). If that is true, provide that film. Next, move the headlight from the lower fork where it gets bounced to death and mount it on the handlebar/stem area. The Gemma brakes look decent but there are almost no reviews and few places to get parts, pads, bleeding kit, etc.. Why choose such an oddball component? Dual batteries: If one wanted them independent, there would need to be an absolute switch between them. Otherwise, when battery 1 went dead, and you turn on battery 2, a good portion of battery 2 would go to charging battery 1. So they made some revamps to the cruiser and freedom added a second battery bigger controller and decided to keep it at the same price to compete....To be honest I don't know which bike I want now🤔

I guess they call cadence sensor - "hybrid" because instead of driving bicycle at set speed at different levels of pedal assists (1st level - 10mhp, 2nd level - 15mps, etc...). Now it will add some predefined power to motor (1st level - +200watts, 2nd - level -400watt, etc...) I believe ECells implements cadence sensor this way and people say it is better way to do pedal assist.

Either the bike has a cadence sensor or a torque sensor. Being able to customize the power output of each pedal assist has nothing to do with a bike being cadence or torque sensor. That still sounds like a cadence sensor. The idea of a torque sensor is to be able to control your speed by applying a varying amount of pressure to the pedals so you can ride with other people and not be stuck at some preset speed like you are with a cadence sensor. The fact that you can set your PAS speeds on the new bike is nice, but not unique. Other bikes offer this. And who gives a cr@p if you can make PAS 1 high speed and PAS 5 low speed? That's utterly unnecessary. I didn't hear anything that qualifies it as being "HYBRID" at all...

Ryan, I truly appreciate you trying to get straight answers from a guy who wants to be evasive. That’s what lawyers do. You would think that a guy who owns the company would know the features of his new model in detail. This guy has only been in the e-bike business for a could years. He still has a lot to learn. I choose to hold off buying one of their bikes until they have been on the streets for awhile and proven. I choose to base my decisions on facts and not emotion. He says he listens to his customers. If he is so strong on his bikes, why does he Not offer a better Warrantee. If he is proving such a great value in his product, why does he not include Shipping, Insurance, and Tax in the base price of his product like some of his competitors.

E cells is a fraud because they don’t collect tax in any State after 5 years in business. This means either they are crooked or they have only sold a handful of bikes. Moreover, the guy is 70 with an inoperable brain tumor by his own admission. What good is a warranty when the company is out of business? Wired has already delivered thousands of Bikes and e cells has not. Moreover, Wired has not said one word about e cells, they just speak with their product and upgrades. E cells is engaged in a slimy disinformation gas lighting and trolling Wireds Facebook groups. But what do you expect from a felon . A convicted felon with a brain tumor who lives in Nevada holding customer deposits, what could possibly go wrong?

Random thoughts: We know how steep of a hill rear wheel drive motorcycles can climb. Not sure how steep one wants to climb on an ebike. 4x4 vehicles usually have an open axle on the front, so that one tire provides directional traction while the other is helping pull the vehicle up the hill. If both front tires were powered and broke traction, you would lose directional traction. Basically, the front end would slide out sideways like the rear-end does in a posi or limited slip rear-end. So, on a bicycle you don't have 2 front tires, therefore, if you break traction on the front, bad things can happen. If a dual motor was produced, I think a 1500 watt in the back and a 750 watt in the front might be ideal.

While it’s true, Wired has definitely stepped up the program with better brakes, way better controller, fairly serious motor improvements, and the addition of a smoking, hot lime green color option, I was still very disappointed that a torque sensor was not included!! Unfortunately, I recently got the chance to ride a good torque sensor bike. The torque sensor is far more intuitive, which makes it much easier to maintain the exact speed while peddling next to other riders. You’re not constantly shuffling back-and-forth in your pedal assist settings. You can just leave it in pedal assist five and when you need more power like going up a hill it senses that you are peddling a little harder and gives you more power to accommodate. It’s awesome !!! I would gladly pay more for That option!

The guy who did the review had a prototype of the new freedom. He seemed to not be clear about certain aspects of the rest battery. Is this new bike ready to ship locally or will the first shipment be in Few months??? The owner seemed to be vague when Ryan asked some good questions. There seems to be a rush to the public to announce the new bike without the facts clear, even from the owner of the company who should know. Doesn’t seem like he has his act together. Better Warrantee and Shipping, Insurance, and Tax included in the Base Price would be Nice.

Google the owner of e cells and you will see his criminal history. How can you avoid paying sales taxes unless you haven’t sold enough bikes to be required to, or are a crook. He won’t be able to get away with it when they are selling hundreds of bikes a month and is going to have a real come to Jesus moment soon. 1000 watts of extra power is a massive upgrade as is a thru axle fork. When you are riding 40mph or going off road, you will be much safer with a thru axle. E cells is toast and I’d bet Wired is just getting started in its counter offensive.

@@18andlikeit ...truth. Hybrid does not exist...it is possible to have both (Juiced Bikes) but not hybrid. Torque sensor is the best....if you want to pedal more "naturally" and have control. My 2023 Fabulous Road Warrior XT AWD has the the Torque...and I can pedal it 43 mph and it throttles to 39 mph. I have another bike that can do around 50 mph with a Cadence....I like the Torque better. BUT I do love them both which is why I make videos with them both. Read the truth about this lying sack. He now says he was innocent and framed by a dirty cop. Read what he said before: “I am so sorry for that violent wreck,” he said with anguish. After a few moments of silence, Cleveland continued his thoughts. “I am so sorry, I am so sorry, I am so sorry, and I just don’t know what more I can say,” he said. “I have asked for their forgiveness. They said they have forgiven me, but I just don’t see that. I am not trying to minimize the situation. It’s a tragic situation, and I know the pain. I don’t know what else I need to do. I spent the last 11 years dedicating my life to changing myself, and I am not the same person I was 11 years ago. I am totally different.” Now he is saying his conviction was overturned? Another lie, he was released on parole and this was from an interview right after his release to home confinement.
