i'm so happy that after years of consoles being considered inferior to PC gaming, the PS5 especially among the current gen consoles leaped so far into the future with new technology that now i believe we're going to have just another era of improving those features before any new innovations can occur, and that's a good thing because already the technology brought into the PS5, compared to its predecessor, makes it superior in so many dimensions, and going forward i see the most major improvements to the next say 2 generations of consoles will be having more powerful hardware to handle games at higher framerates AND high resolutions at the same time (high graphics settings at 4K while still getting 120FPS), having more capacity of that fast NVMe SSD storage and probably improve load times even more, and of course improving the already amazing haptic feedback and ergonomics of the controller.

This reminds me of listening to John Carmack. Everything they say is so lucid and clear, no matter how technical and complicated. And it comes naturally, the entire 5+ hour interview with Carmack on Lex Fridman is basically a masterpiece of lucidity and intelligence, no matter what you throw at him. I am just glad these people exist.

The Audio and the haptics on the controller made me get one. Was going for the xbox but after testing out both, I really enjoy the PS5 way more. Also doesn't help that I have a monster PC that can play xbox games. The haptics on the controller for single player games really immerses you into the game even though it is subtle on most titles.

They're the two things that STOPPED me getting one. I don't want yet more useless gimicks like that stupid touchpad to get in the way of my games and take me out of the experience hen I'm forced to use them.

"3d audio" is a gimmick, no game actually uses it. haptics and trigger effects are also a useless gimmick that reduce the lifespan of the controller (internal plastic gears will only last so long before cracking due to friction) and mind you the lifespan on the controller is already known to be short (on average just 417 hours of use before drifting occurs).
