I configured DHCP pools in a L3 Switch.. but hosts connected to APs, cannot get the right IP addresses! In simulation mode, I saw that switch ports that are connected to APs are blocked by STP!

Hi Greg- Could you please share one with multi sites (With Different Network) with centralised WLC.

Hi Raju, I haven't created one like this before in Packet Tracer. I'm not sure if you've already tried this but I'll keep this in mind when I'm creating new content though.

Hey do you know if there's a limit to how many APs you can connect to the same WLC? I have a total of 8, only 7 registered, they are all in the same vlan.
@GregSouth Жыл бұрын
Hi @TheBoostedDoge - i don't believe i've tested this many APs before. As good as Packet Tracer is, at the end of the day it's a simulator and I've come across different limitations with some protocols in the past. The next time I'm configuring wireless I'll experiment. Perhaps someone else watching may add in here their own experience too - all the best with the labbing...

A company wants to implement a large number of WAPs throughout its building and allow users to be able to move around the building without dropping their connections Which of the following pieces of equipment would be able to handle this requirement? (A). A VPN concentrator (B). A load balancer (C). A wireless controller (D). A RADIUS server Could you please help me find the correct answer to the question above?
@GregSouth2 жыл бұрын
Hi Birol, have you looked up info regarding the Wireless LAN controller(WLC). These typically control many lightweight WAP(wireless access points). WLC are also responsible for Radio Frequencies management, association and roaming management (devices moving from one AP to another). Hope this helps!

Hi, the WLC device that I used in the video is the WLC-2504 - this can be found in the menu by selecting wireless devices and by picking the 2504 in this case. All the best, Greg

Thanks so much budy. I have a question, we can conect other device direct on the WLC by wifi ? like you did with access point ?

This is very specific tutorial I stumbled across seems very well done, originally I was looking for general wireless lan controller info because I wanted to buy some second hand cisco access points from an auction at a university, however i really enjoyed this tutorial so my question is how do I start learning about this stuff is their a class you recommend and can I get certified in this field?would

Hi @Joshua, glad the videos helped. If you're looking to learn more on Wireless and other networking technologies - a great first step in my opinion would be to check out the various free resources located at www.netacad.com/

please i am having a very serious challenge. I am learning cisco networking with packet tracer. So, i was building a topology which was connecting just fine with trunks created, vlans created etc. But now i wanted to add wireless capabilities to the network, when i introduced a wireless controller to the network with ip address and gateway still yet i can't either ping to the controller or log into it from a p.c weither connecting directly to the controller or through a switch
@GregSouth2 жыл бұрын
Hi @Chukwuma, as you are using VLANs you will need to add additional configuration to your network - for example, wherever you connect up your WLC to your switch - good practice to make this port a trunk port (to allow more than one VLAN) to cross this. Also, you will likely need to add more config to your WLC - such as new WLANs (mapping back to a wired VLAN) - a gotcha here is to ensure when you create a new wlan that you remember to enable each (there's a checkbox to do this). Finally, on the WLAN controller interface, the tabs I would recommend you explore are: WLANs & Controller (Internal DHCP Server is on the left within Controller interface). One last tip i would give you is to get used to using the fast forward time button whilst you navigate and make changes in your WLC. Good luck with your network config! Thanks, Greg
