Hi Ashley - Thanks so much for this informative video. I had been searching for a way to share music in my hybrid classes, and for a system to use to for outdoor yoga as well. I got the Rode system with two mics and it's been absolutely terrific in both settings! For outdoors, I plug the transceiver into my outdoor speaker, and then mic myself and the music separately - works like a charm, without having to spring for a PA and mixer. I even took it the whole system out on the water for a kayaking and meditation class. I'm now sharing these tech solutions with other teachers I know. Really appreciate your videos, especially as a newer teacher. - Jen

Thanks Ashley. I recently had feedback from my online students that the AAUUMMs (OMs) were cutting short and the singing bowl bell ringing (just a 'ding') was also cutting off quickly. I think it happened after a Zoom update so probably the Zoom default settings changed. So after trying g a few things unsuccessfully, I discovered that changing the Zoom mic settings in *Suppress Background Noise* from 'Auto' to 'Low' solved the problem! And not only can they now hear the full long 'AAUUMM's and 'dings', they can finally also hear the soft music that I've been playing in the background the whole time. I use the original RODE Wireless Go (in my cleavage under the shirt), with the middle volume setting, and am relatively close to the speakers and the music is not very loud - a bit lower than I used to have in studio classes, back in the old days. Thankfully the students can't hear the dogs barking outside, chatty neighbours, or noisy motorbikes passing, or even the council street garbage collectors in their noisy trucks - I'm in the front room in a 1st/2nd floor flat, with a busy residential street intersection outside.

I really appreciate your work and your sharing this information, as this is information that I really needed! Unfortunately, I have not had the same experience as you - I ordered the Rode Wireless Go II and have had two problems: 1. The transmitter does not charge (I've tried multiple times) 2. The receiver in the WIGO II system does NOT have a microphone - I wondered if I was doing something wrong, but the Rode website comparing the Go II and the ME confirms that the microphone built-in to the receiver is unique to the ME system. I wonder if they have changed all of this since your purchase?
@AshleyHagen11 ай бұрын
The Rode Wireless Go II originally comes with two microphones (3 pieces total), which I am showing here, not a transmitter in the receiver. The ME has a transmitter in the receiver and can be used as one of the microphones. The ME wasn't an option when I created this video years ago.

In the RODE Wireless 2 you can change the the volume to dB to get more then three steps thru the RODE app on the Desktop for both Mac and PC, And if you try to use the wireless GO 2 with your desktop with the USB cable you have to change the volume on the mic withing your desktop settings. So dont give up on the RODE Wireless 2 they are more versitile when it comes to Volume. i Highly recomend getting the Desktop app for all the Rode Wirless GO 2 users.

So I would need to purchase both units?

No, the Rode Wireless Go I and II are totally separate. You would not use the original with the II. The second comes with two microphones and one receiver. So, actually the microphones themselves record a backup (up to 7 hours) inside of the microphone piece so you can grab the file using the Rode software on a computer. I have not done this, but I've been watching videos about it. On the video you are recording, where ever that is, the two microphones sounds are combined. I don't currently teach in a studio or hybrid anymore, so no, I don't. But you definitely could do that. And yes, they can speak and communicate to you if you wanted. You can set your speaker separate from the microphone using Zoom on a computer. On a phone or tablet, you have more limitations and they would not be able to, unless you unplug your microphone or you choose to use airpods.

Thank you for your video! I want to ask if you can connect earphones -headset -to hear your self in real time and the quality of the sound that the students have. It is important for me as I want to adjust with my voice volume during breathwork classes. Hearing the outcome of my voice would be a great tool. Or is there another way to make possible to hear yourself during recording?
@AshleyHagen2 жыл бұрын
If you are talking, it's going to be very difficult to hear yourself in real time with earphones. At best, it'd sound like an echo, but extremely distracting. You'd need it to be offset a few seconds to be able to test the volume. You wouldn't want to do this during the class. I'd recommend doing this before class. Do a test run before the actual event.

@AshleyHagen2 жыл бұрын
All you can do is test it out. There are too many factors that contribute for me to give you a solid yes/no. I think it would definitely work, but you'd have to adjust the volume as needed, the space between the music mic and the speakers and anything else. Definitely do a test run first and make adjustments.

The cable it comes with will only work with cameras or speakers. For a computer, you might need to USB adapter, depending on the computer.

I consider using this for teaching couples dance, one for me and one for my partner to amplify our voices using a speaker in the same room. I worry about feedback and loss of reception as we'll walk in and out among the student couples. Placement of transmitter might help, maybe I could wear a cap or hat, and my partner might wear the transmitter clipped to her hair clamp, and then a headset like Rode HS2. Has anyone tried something like this?

Hi Ashley, I have tried setting up my wireless go 2 in a similar way but have my receiver plugged in to my laptop via the USB charging cable. I have had an issue with the sound coming from the mic near the speaker and have found that I have to use the 2 mics in merged mode to be able to get sound from both microphones using zoom. Do you have your system set up to merged or split channels? If split channel what do you do to get the sound from both mics?

For this demo, I had split channels. And I didn’t do anything except plug it in through my phone using the SC7 cable. I don’t use the charging USB cable. Adjusting the volume that way is a pain. It’s possible, but not easy. So I use my original cables that I use with the Rode I.
