I can’t wait to get my hands on this. I’ve been working in making my studio completely “cable-less”. This will be the finishing touch to making this a reality.

Wondering how it does perform compare to the Camranger 2?

can it be connected to two devices at same time. means 2 laptops or laptop and iPad Pro etc
@TC-cd5sm4 жыл бұрын
I shoot a lot of events at my job (internal staff photographer) and this setup would be nice if I was able to connect two DSLR's into one laptop imported via Lightroom. It would save so much time transferring photos via the card reader. When I'm done shooting, previews already generated and I could immediately start culling.

Better sales pitch would’ve been to have the image properly exposed. Especially after opening up the camera settings and have an correct exposure applied. Two questions, is that a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz transmitter on top of the camera? And what camera was she shooting with? I want to know approximate how large the Raw file was that was being transmitted.
@diyphotography5 жыл бұрын
We were talking about Sony a73 size files. If I recall correctly you can choose the frequencies. And I totally agree about the wasted demo opportunity
@GaabrielArchAngel5 жыл бұрын
They said 5 GHz in the video.
@cooloox5 жыл бұрын
That JPEG image didn't actually transfer across to the computer very quickly at all, especially compared to say, an EOS R sending an image to a smartphone and the EOS R has a lot more megapixels than that old Rebel camera. The raw transfer must be very slow. Also, as many of us use a wireless trigger on our hotshoes, this thing hanging off the side of the camera is going to make the camera bulky and possibly awkward to use when shifting from landscape to portrait. I wish you'd used a wireless flash trigger and taken a few images in a row to show how this thing really performs in a real world situation.
@davidjb91995 жыл бұрын
"Now we finally have wireless"???? This has been around for some time (CamRanger), even if a bit slow. Someone should do a video comparing the top wireless systems in a head-to-head show down.

Normally I shoot in the studio with flash. Where do I put mi trigger?
@diyphotography5 жыл бұрын
the unit does not have to mount on the hot shoe. So you could, for example, attach it to a magic ark connected to a tripod socket. (though I'll admit that they could have come up with a better solution.

The Air Direct is supposed to connect with lightroom and such automatically. Unfortunately that's not the case. I also tried the setup multipe times with Nikon Camera Control. Nope! So it’s useless with my Mac Book Pro. The Air Direct works (on and off) with my iPad Pro. However even when using the 5GHz WLan, the transfer is super slow. In the demos they obviously work with tiny files and no color dept. Transfering a 45 megapixel file takes 10 sec and more. So working in fashion or even portraits is not recommended.
@cooloox5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info, I guessed that would be the case. I shoot Canon in raw+jpg and I set the JPEG images to one of the small JPEG settings (approx. 6MP). All images remain in the camera, only the small JPEGs go to the computer for a quick check how things are looking. The jpgs, being small, come up almost instantly.

Dude it took 5 seconds for the RAW photo to show up on this crop sensor Rebel camera. My clients would walk out of the studio or location having to wait 7 seconds a shot. Tether tools you need to work on making a decent fucking cable before you try to do anything.
@f4ust854 жыл бұрын
"5-7 seconds, depending on your filesize", in reality if you take photography seriously and have any recent professional 50+ megapixel camera, its 10, 12, 15. I wonder if I live long enough to see a WORKING solution to this, that doesnt take up my hotshoe, doesnt involve freaking USB cables, doesnt crash during every single session and most importantly doesnt make me wait for 10 seconds after every single click! What a waste of everybodys time this is...

Why don't people watch or listen to the video? You do not have to use this mounted on your camera.
@cooloox5 жыл бұрын
So where do you suggest we place it while mounting a trigger on our hotshoes? You have to hold the camera and be able to switch camera orientation. Something else hanging off your camera is going to get messy. Why didn't they "show" it mounted elsewhere knowing full well it's where it will have to be for most photographers?
