Oh yah, Snubs.....You nailed it....Just like you always do.. Lemme ask you a question At the 3:15 point of this haktip, you mentioned doing a google search on my device....Actually I've been tinkering around with all 3 backtrack 5, kali linux and the showershark (you know that's a wierdo who can't keep his eyes off other peoples junk in public pool showers ect..!) I spend time here and there on all 3 of those programs trying to decide which one will suit me best...My opinion, there pretty much the same just different controls... all use filters...There's just so much to learn! I'm the hands on approach for the most part...i learn best from trial & error.. My question:Would an XP laptop be suitable to dedicate to pcapture? I have a fujitsu running xp and its sitting all alone on a shelf.. Thank you! john v.

Can you explain why it is showing 802.11 under the protocol column? BTW, the adapter you guys sell, it can be used with Windows to capture wifi traffic...nothing else needed? Heck, wish I had known that before I purchased Acrylic WiFi and a pricy, outdated adapter to use with it! Ugh.

Hi shannon, I have a problem here with setting my system to monitor mode. The thing is that I'm using wireshark on my "laptop" and since it already has a built-in "Realtek RTL8188EE Wireless LAN 802.11n" card which I normally use to access the internet. Now I can't find any way to put this into monitor mode. In this video you're asking to buy an airpcap device or driver (whatever). What about getting my own laptop WLAN card to work that way without buying those airpcaps.. How am I supposed to do that? I really surfed on google but no luck.. Any help would be really appreciated.

If you all get around to it, I have a request. My live cds obviously are not persistent. Neither are my USBs, though. How can I make my distros persistent so they retain updates?

Can someone help me? I keep having problems with streaming. The stream buffers again and again although the internet connection according to the donation test etc. is sufficient. Is it possible to get to the bottom of the problem with Wireshark here? We use a hybrid solution from Telekom (DSL+ LTE support). Many Thanks.

You need to be on a public network to sniff public packets on wireshark. On your own network its only the stuff u go on comes up i think
