Wirlpool door locked? Watch this! This is the video I needed

This exact problem happened with our Whirlpool washer today. Instead of starting, the door locked, the "Door Locked" light started blinking red, and the drain pump running. We found this video and did as suggested - just let it run. After about 10-12 minutes, the pump stopped running, light stopped blinking, and the door unlocked. Then I was able to start the washer and it worked normally. Thanks for the helpful tip!

We had this problem occur to us previous after forgetting to turn on the water. Called the repair guy and they did a quick fix for us. Had a house guest do the same thing, forget to the turn the water on. We tried this and IT WORKED!!! Thank you so much! It sounds like we’re damaging the machine but it just sounds bad cause there’s no water. Thank you!!!!!

Thank you!!!!!!! Absolutely worked....we were initially afraid to allow this to go that long assuming it would blow out the motor as I am sure others were thinking too, but thanks to this video we saved at least 125.00 on a service call!!!! Can I send you a case of beer for the advice? lol

We had the exact problem with just the door lock flashing and door locked. We did what you said on the video and it reset itself and unlocked the door. Thanks for the info!!

I hate this washer!!! Everything is off except the door locked.... I can’t even get it power on/start at all... my clothes are in the washer. It makes me want to break the lid to get my clothes out of washer.... it’s been locked for over three hours!! What should I do? HELP!!!!!!!

@@Osama_Zyn_Laden I just found out that if it locks… you would have to turn off the washer/dryer off the breaker but If it doesn’t work then you’d have to unplug and wait for 20 minutes then plug in It works now.

my washer’s Door Locked red light kept blinking with the pump still running. Did everything from unplugging and plugging back in after 10mins and NOTHING. As soon as I plugged in, the pump would run back up and Door Locked light would blink in red. None of the controls worked either. I was over here freaking out and after watching this video, I said f it. Imma let this thing run by itself like what this guy said. VOILA! The machine stopped and unlocked by itself. Probably took about 12-15 mins. Now back up and running like it wasn’t just giving me mini heart attacks moments ago 🙄🙄. Thanks for this video!!!

Hmmm part of your analysis works but not entirely. I had to hold down on the right corner control lock for 3 seconds. Then I waited and waited like you said and it finally opened. Next I was going to unplug and wait 30 Seconds and replug. That has worked when above hasn’t!!!

Thank you very much for making this video. Had the exact same problem: no lights on yet door light flashing and machine making a loud noise. I left it plugged it for about 15 minutes and the light and noise stopped. It appears the machine still thinks it needs to complete the cycle. Anyway, thank you again! Machine is now working perfectly.

We just bought our house and in it came along the W/D (Whirlpool). I am finding all these kinks to this house, hence, this darn washing machine. It’s making a weird, loud noise and has the blinking red light for door lock and nothing is running. At first, it gave me F8, E1... IDK WTF that means. I have no manual. When I saw the error, I unplugged it and waited about 3 mins, plugged it back in and it’s still making loud noise. I’m now currently waiting. Omg!!! The noise stopped!! It turned off and now I am able to turn it back in! ITS WORKING AGAIN!!! WHIRLPOOL NEEDS TO PUT THIS JNTO A DISCLOSURE!!!! Dammit!! It works now. THANKS VIDEO MAN!!

Pull the bottom panel off the washer t-20 torx screws. Mine had 3. Remove the panel at the bottom and look in on the right side and you'll see the technician / troubleshooting / diagnostic manual in a clear sealed bag flat against the inside wall. I am getting ready to dive in and unlock the handle from the inside. I have my washer and dryer double stacked so I will have to remove the dryer from the top and pull the top panel check all the connections over real good. I did find a good video the other day that showed some of the common lock issues. IF you have instagram lookup dtnel78 and message me and I can help you the best I can. I fix everything regarding my stuff around house, cars, plumbing, automotive oscilloscope and advanced diagnostics and many other things including carpentry. IF you don't find the manual there and can open the door to the washer get the model number just inside the door panel and use that on Google. Hit me up if you need help on diagnosing it. I did get my manual out and it covers alot of the whirlpool duet models and even some of the sears ones. I'll go find the video and edit this link and throw it in here and hopefully that'll help you. If I can do it so can you.

The motor runs, the lights ain't working (just the red door locked blinking indicator) but also the drum is not turning. But I will try this out and see what happens.

@@dantereacts4700 - I forgot to update my comment. And yes, you are correct. I let it ran for about 20 minutes. Then I checked. It was quiet. The indicator light was no longer flashing red. I opened the door and everything was back to normal and worked fine! Just wondering why this tactic is not included in the trouble shooting section of the manufacturer's manual.

my washer was full of sud and it ran like this with door locked blinking. it was stuck in draining and even if i turned it off and on the same is happening. no response on all buttons and no light other than the door locked blinking. now i plugged it back in and will run for 15mins. hope this works now that the suds are gone.

Ha! I took the whole machine apart and played with the fuses, then gave up and bought a Samsung on FB marketplace, THEN found out my electronics warranty is still available, so, reassembled machine and waiting for tech to come out!! Fingers crossed! I guess I'll sell it if I can get it to work! It's only a year and a half old.
