​@@CameronMB The difference is that videogames typically generate crisp, high res, frames. So 60fps of high-res seems way smoother than 30fps. But that's not how film frames get recorded. If you look at film frames, they'll be blurry due to motion, along with other artefacts. This makes enven 34fps film look way better than videogames. Motion blue tries to emulate some of this, but its not enough. Videogames are just a different experience. So really yeah, there's some truth to only needing 24fps, and great games of the path needed far less fps to appear smooth, but its an oversimplification

@@tiansiviveyou make a good point, but at the same time while filming, shutter speed of a camera can eliminate motion blur causing movement especially of the background to appear choppy at 30fps. at least that's been my experience. I've watched 30fps gopro footage that makes background movement appear very choppy idk. now if it's a video of a stationary person talking then absolutely 24fps could be sufficient.

I Like the vibe of this map. Back in the first trackmania the ralley car (I called it the Mini Cooper) drove mostly dirt tracks through castles and ruins and they captured this feeling pretty well here

The problem with analog input wirtual isn’t seeing is that in order to steer left or right when you’re already steering one direction is you have to cross over the midpoint to change direction. With WASD you can immediately input left or right steer at any given moment. Each input has its own drawbacks

It kind of makes me sad that nadeo is effectively discontinuing support for keyboard as a competitive control device; especially after they made changes to support wheel and controllers in the past. I think part of what made Trackmania a good entry level competitive racing game is that it does not require a joystick, wheel or controller to play. Technically, this will still be true, but I can imagine how frustrating new players will be if they get good enough to be limited by their choice of input device. Especially when keyboards are universal for computer players.

For the number issue, it's almost certainly a modelling issue it's very common to model half of a model, while using software to mirror the other half. This also mirrors textures as well, and they likely forgot to edit the right half of the number to have the correct orientation and material/texture offset

Hey, the longer the range of the stick the more precision. If you separated the forward and back and side to side ie. stop 360 deg of rotation , so you can have a 2D gas pedal high foot speed and good range to hold position may be ok and a long arm or stick or large wheel to drive, the amount of precision would multiply.

i have played all curent first 5 maps of the season in with a rally car and you need you action key set to 60% or number 3 to even be competitive I think if they had the old action key system 50% would of been perfect on keyboard one had to be heavily modified and one I removed all the vehicle switched you can get a 30 second run on all of them .

I think it was the ranking on the back of the car. Numbers were mirrored so the proper rank couldn't be seen (i.e. below 10 = 00 and 11+ = first number and first number mirrored). The 'bug' could have also been a 'creative' choice by the mapper if everyone had it.

I don't know the actual reason, But with His outspoken criticism of nadeo's Treatment of Keyboardplayers for the new cars, I assume there is a certain Level of pettiness involved. Like "Look, even a fing flightstick, intended for flying Games Not racing games is better than Keyboards"

He mentioned that a flight stick is faster than a wheel at going from one side to the other, but more precise than a controller, so it's a good midpoint between them. I would guess that, with his keyboard experience, being able to do fast "twitch" inputs is particularly important.

The framerate issues have been a bit annoying to watch; I can't imagine how frustrating this is to play. Based on some of the comments it sounds like Wirtual fixed the issue, but sucks he had to put up with it for so long. For some context, I have a 3080 (the same card as Wirtual) and can run the game at 1440p 144 Hz without much trouble. I'm sure some maps run a lot worse than others, but this is definitely not expected performance for his setup. One thing I feel worth mentioning is, despite Wirtual's assurance, leaving a computer on for a long time can _for sure_ cause performance problems, namely due to memory leaks and more potential for the RAM to be used less efficiently. For most people leaving it on for several days probably won't be too problematic (though I wouldn't recommend it), but for a streamer running a ton of programs to go live, things get more prone to issues. Wirtual isn't wrong in that a lot of people telling him what to do actually don't really know what they're talking about, but his stance that things like GPU updates won't improve performance and leaving on computers for weeks having no effect is just... an interesting hill to die on. To be fair, GPU updates especially can for sure be a dice roll sometimes.
