It's really the only way to go about these types of challenges. You are never failing, you're learning. Every fall is new information gained, every recovery is free practice. For example: the past 24 hours, two of the top players have gotten stuck on the second to last jump to floor 10, turtling, falling down 1, 5 or 10 floors down. So they studied the spot, got a few more attempts in, and eventually got it. One of those attempts included a 10 minute turtle recovery. "Interesting jump" is how they both labelled that spot.

Such a shame that wirtual is apparently the only big streamer that has unbearable lag on the server. Missing out on so much. This has been a blast to watch (and occasionally catch for a bit on stream). Great job to the editors as well. A great mix of showing progress as well as earlier footage that has the chance to be successful and not successful. Adds a good amount of jeopardy and better demonstrates how crazy hard this is. For anyone who plays Trackmania casually or is fairly new to the game, give this thing a try. You will be shocked at how hard it actually is. Like getting to the first floor is not something you'll be able to do your first, second, 30th attempt. If you have 1000s of hours in the game like Wirtual does a lot of this may look fairly straight forward, but TM is not an easy game at any level.

the map is incredible but I don’t love how not all the floors are actually right on top of one another. the concept of having wide open space in a tower map is a little weird to me. i would have liked to have seen each floor rotated to be more aligned vertically. That’s obviously very subjective of course. what do you think?

I believe the point of that was to make it more punishing, as you are more likely to lose more progress with each fall. So it is intentional, I can see how it is perhaps not the most "fun" way to make it more difficult from a game design standpoint. But making the most fun map seems to have been a lower priority than making it the most difficult.

man i genuinely hope he takes time to investigate his tech setup. for how big a channel he is it makes no sense his performance is this weak. Bren doing nothing special and getting 200+ FPS pretty consistently. It doesn't seem like a Specs issue either, but maybe his streaming/recording setup? Might beenfit from a Stream PC to keep things separate, and some basic improvements on his PC maintenance (routine shutdowns each night, keeping drivers up to date, keeping boot drive as clear as possible. Maybe a clean install of windows?) It sucked seeing him so frustrated by it. So I hope some time is truly spent to improve this so its not an issue going forward after the event.

Not getting a top of the line PC + separate streaming PC before an event that had been planned for a while is quite the fumble. I hate being a downer, it's just that some of my favourite moments from this event have happened as a result of everyone being on a server together, and Wirtual only has his stubbornness to blame.

Lars and especially scrapie have also had big performance problems on the server. Scrapie in particular was malding about it

He did get help fixing a number of problems, including: - Sharing resolution/bitrate across Twitch and KZbin to avoid double encoding. - Disabling hardware acceleration in the browser to avoid stealing GPU resources. Apparently the chat window was tanking performance quite a bit. - Locking the game to a few dedicated cores. This doesn't hurt performace since the game isn't very multithreaded, and prevents OBS and other programs from fighting over the same cores.

I really like the recoverability of floor 6 how a lot of it leads back to that plastic bounce. You dont go straight back to the mud every time you fail but you still need to redo that hard trick

I've not driven either Deep Dip but from what I've seen I think the various jumps and tricks in 2 are mostly easier than the first tower so far, but virtually every fall goes to the ground which makes it take much longer.
