Wisbech Lament

A plea from the heart to the couldn't-care-less representatives who continue to let our town decay. Not that they will pay any attention - the election is ages away!

Would be a much better place to live if people painted the buildings and made an effort to brighten it up, instead of the mud-brown, grey environment that you find across the UK. It costs about £800 to paint the outside of an average three bedroom house, and that lasts for twenty years.

The sad thing is, from what I've seen the town has the potential to be on par with any other historic market towns in the UK but when you have people who don't give a toss or those sub letting a three bedroom semi to a dozen factory workers doing shifts around the clock, shouting an yelling at three in the morning and chucking empty lager tins over your garden fence. Who in there right mind would pour money into somewhere thats a cross between Jeremy Kyle's waiting list and the cast of f**king Borat! Lovely town. Inhabited by a handful of crap that ruins it.

Lived there for 2 years 77-79. Not the most vibrant of places but plenty hoards of plough bred women if that was your thing, loads of pubs, plenty of work back then too. A good place as an interim to be released from prison, go to college then leave and join the Army. Public transport sucks, as do the gangs of women who frequent the pubs albeit more enjoyably.

If you want to help Wisbech then do something productive. There are loads of people trying to make Wisbech a better place. The biggest obstacle to be overcome is not the council, it's the negative and defeatist attitude of people who seem to take huge delight on focusing on the negatives. Why not try pointing out the positives which incidentally include the Boathouse and Marina or do they not count because YOU don't use them? You may think you're helping but you're a big part of the problem.
