I had the exact same problem on my 2006 Nomad. I went the JB Weld route and so far is holding up ok.
@ChefHikerBiker4 жыл бұрын
I have heard of many people having success with the JB weld option. I think when I applied it, the temperature outside was to cold. I should have brought it in to warm up first.

It looks good. I may have primed the bare metal

I do, but later.

You done a stella job with the painting and polishing there Marc, 👌👌 but, should you have rinsed it out with petrol first to check for leaks? 🤔 Hindsight is a wonderful thing my friend 👍 you showed more patience than I would’ve done!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😂😂😂🤣 My bike would’ve been across the garage in bits!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬 All the best Marc catch up on episode 3 👍

Yeah, as soon as I talked with Don, he said he should have done a leak test with alcohol and pressure test with air. I really didn't think there was going to be an issue. I was just excited to get it back on the bike and finish the project.

Marc VanderPal Lets hope he does it again the proper way and tests it, I thought with all that fandango equipment he had and spoke about he would’ve tested it before he gave it to you? Now you’ve got to do all that painting and polishing again!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡Good luck Marc hope you have a better outcome than the previous debacle 🤷♂️👍👌🤘

I have the same problem right now on my 2006 VN1600 Classic

I contacted Kawasaki USA and they didn't offer any assistance at all. I hope everything goes ok for you.

Chef Hiker Biker I have the same problem with the same bike 2006 VN1600. I would like to know how did you get all the gas out, because I’m trying to take mines to a welder also.
@ChefHikerBiker4 жыл бұрын
You'll need to remove the gas pump to get the tank empty.

Did he fix the leak? I tried jb weld didn't work.
@ChefHikerBiker4 ай бұрын
He had to weld it a second time, but yes he fixed it.

This was a rare problem. On another note have you ever adjusted your cam chain tensioners.
@pete21094 жыл бұрын
I thought the 1600 were hydraulic adjustment ? 🤔
@ChefHikerBiker4 жыл бұрын
I have never adjusted the cam chain. Never even looked into it to figure out how to do it.
@ChefHikerBiker4 жыл бұрын
I have no idea if it's manual or hydraulic
@edwardfransee76964 жыл бұрын
@@ChefHikerBiker valve lash adjusters are automatic but cam chain adjuster is on side of each head at bottom and you need to adjust them because if your chain get too loose it will blow your head in the motor. mine is in shop now getting adjusted, you can do it yourself but if you over tighten it will cause trouble and if you under adjust good by motor.

I'm not a mechanic, so something like that is definitely something I won't do on my own. If you don't mind me asking, what is it costing to get it done?
@xltranger983 жыл бұрын
Gas leaks are very hard to seal. Maybe use a sealer inside the tank
@ChefHikerBiker3 жыл бұрын
Don put sealer in it, and it didn't harden properly. Keep watching the other videos in this series.

But I am living in Cameroon in Africa so I hope I can find somebody who can do it
@ChefHikerBiker4 жыл бұрын
Good luck. You can try and replace the whole tank. But they can be pretty expensive and they might develop the same issue.
