It really is amazing, my grandfather has a farm and last year a family lost their son right before harvest. Now it's a family that we've had issues with over the years and butted heads with. But even so we were there with our grain cart at 6am ready to offload the combines and if things were the other way around they'd have been there too. It's just how things are done out there.

im from a pretty closely knit area in the netherlands, the farmers in my area werent "big" but they had a lot of land further away, but they never let eachother do the work alone, 4 different farmers, 50 fields shared between them. Every year they'd help eachother plant, harvest and even feed eachothers animals if they were sick. one of my neighbours got a spinal injury which had him bedridden for half a year, the other farmers took care of his animals and even harvested all his fields for him in his absence. Farmers are the best.

Over 95% of U.S. Farms are family
@kreed10044 жыл бұрын
@@travisjohnson8240 in terms of... numbers of farmers vs numbers of corporate farms? how about acres farmed? I'd venture to say it's the other way around 5% farmed by family owned small farms and 95% owned, run or manipulated in some way by corporations, be it seed technology, computer software licensing, ownership of the product outright like the large chicken companies... Families don't run this country, corporations do.

i definitely agree but even huge farms with many thousands of acres have the same spirit about em.. at least where I'm from.. i have a cousin that was doing bad health wise and one of the neighbors is a huge farmer in the area.. what my cousin takes a couple of weeks to do with his tractors and equipment the other farmer can do in hours with their fleet of tractors.. they offered help but my uncle and other cousin ended up doing the job... but it was nice that they offered...

You know we the human race for the most part are fairly intelligent people. I do not understand why the rich and politics cannot see how important the farmers are to the human race. Without the farmers they wouldn't eat or drink or even have clothes on there back. What really pisses me off. The farmers are the hardest working people I know. Not only that . They are most kind and willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. But are the most understand paid occupation I can think of for the amount of work they do and make the most sacrifices of anyone. I don't understand why these people can not see this. All I can say is God bless each and every farmer out there. Thank You for you for everything that you do I appreciate you'll
@markb14874 жыл бұрын
The rich don't care,, they have money to buy what ever they like,, but when you have to grow it,, like farmers,, its much much more important,, a way of life.... I totally agree with you,,, being a dairy farmer once, and now a beef farmer, (UK) its totally important to educate ppl that food is a necessity,,, like breathing,,,

Just seeing this story now. Farmers are amazing people. Hard work and long hours, no sick days, no paid vacations, no day off for holidays, the list goes on. They make a lot of sacrifices for themselves and other people. So nice for these folks to get together for this family and do what they did.

That is a scary thing that can happen, every time i work under a header i make sure it is locked first, but there is many dangerous things that could also happen. I work on a farm where 8 years ago a worker named Chris Pollock got his hands stuck in a corn picker and i work on the same farm and it scares the hell out of me of all the things that could happen but its a very needed job.

When I work under a combine head, it gets locked in the up position and a huge tree stump gets put under the head as another safety device. Can't never be safe enough!

Tight knit group.... Most of the country, this is exactly what happens in time of need... Unfortunately, not everywhere 😪 Last year was one of those years, lost my dad the end of June 2018. Hired man was a little flakey before dad passed, quit showing up after.... Middle of hay season, beginning of oat harvest. Only one Farmer offered to help. Got a week of baling big bales for meals, fuel and a pallet of twine. Very grateful for his help!!! We are still going, my daughters have stepped up to do most things, I'm still trying to do the job of 3 experienced operators, as well as mechanic. (Youngest daughter is going to school for diesel mechanics, she is a great help!! Older daughter is my right hand, she's still got a lot to learn, but raking, small baling, combining stacking big bales and tending to the cattle keep her busy!!) Be thankful for any help you get! Give a hand when someone needs it!!! Not comparing our experience to this one, just saying the help isn't always there 😪

We did something similar in Arkansas in 2013 when a neighbor was taking cancer treatments. We put 16 combines , tractors with grain carts, and trucks in his fields. We split up and weren't all in the same field but cut what was close to us. We did it again in 2025 when he died.
