Wisconsin - New Dockyard T10 American Battleship | World of Warships

The Wisconsin is the newest Special (Dockyard) Tier 10 American Battleship. It has 9x 406mm guns. This video shows 1 game, played on Loop, where I showcase myself with my thought process on what happens in the match, and give insight on what I think of the ship.
Price: Dockyard ship. 30 total levels. Two starter packs available: 2 phases for 3200 and 9 for 12000. 3200 dbl is the minimum cost for Wisconsin if player does NOT already own WV'44. If player owns WV'44, then they will receive 3 phases when they earn '44 and Wisconsin can be earned completely for free! All phases completed after 30 will give 250 steel.

As someone else mentioned; the ”brown” deck is when the deck is covered with wooden planks. Wood makes for excellent decking as it increases friction and thus people/things slip around less as the ship rolls. It does introduce splinters and poses a fire hazard (I suppose) so I’m guessing they removed it when the ships were more active. In modern ships you mix grit/sand into the deck paint to get the same friction

Could be the wood they used became far too expensive which they used Teak for the deck planks. It's a protected or limited harvesting on the species now. The paint is also probably easier to maintain as well as cheaper.

@@02091992able Teak is typically only used when aesthetics matter, though it used to be preferred because it has a naturally high oil content (and thus is resistant to moisture). Any wood does the job… I used to work on ships where we used regular pine.

The wooded deck is not removed in battle. The wood is hard enough that they can effectively bounce bombs in many instances

WhisKy might just have a fresher newly oiled teak deck than Iowa and Missouri since I think they all used teak. Prolonged exposure to the elements, sea spray, salty moist air and sun will likely bleach the deck over time.

The deck is teak wood weather deck. It was made out of wood for a couple of reasons. One, being better traction, two being it was a barrier for the metal underneath against rust, three being it tended to help set off smaller bombs, four being it just looks sexy. Surprisingly enough, it actually did not burn as easy as you might think. Teak has a lot of qualities that are highly desirable for this application. The reason Iowa and Missouri have grey decks and Wisky has a flat wood tone, is just paint. Camouflage schemes and the like.

Wanted to post this because some people seem to be misinformed, Iowa and Missouri have wood decks that have been painted Deck Blue 20-B as per Measure 32 (Iowa's perma camo) and Measure 22 respectively. You can actually see this in game as some parts of the paint are faded/worn and the wood color is visible. Wisconsin's deck as we see is simply not painted, I don't know enough about Wisconsin specifically to know if this is accurate due to her relatively late arrival into the war or an error on WG's part, but her deck should theoretically match Iowa and Missouri's. With that out of the way, thanks for posting this, I'm looking forward to getting her!

Not quite true. The ships sometimes get camo even on the deck while in dock during refit however one of the almost daily duties of the crew is to swab the deck. The tools they use are incredibly abrasive... brushes, stones, soap and water, and mops and even squeegies. Paint would not stand up to the almost daily scrubbing. Any camo on the deck would soon be swabbed away in those daily cleanings. What many people confuse as camo is the wood becoming bleached to a greyish light brown in the sun. This is a natural reaction to teak when exposed to direct sunlight. Also you want to be able to walk on the deck.. painted wood when it is wet is slick and becomes dangerous to the crew on a ship rolling through the ocean. Navy sailors even in WW2 have been filmed swabbing the deck and it can take hours. Swabbing the deck keeps mold from growing on the wood and making it dangerous in rough seas and removes salt buildup which causes rust.. Don't take my word for it.. look at pictures of the Iowa in WW2 in color pictures. The deck is unpainted and the teak has already gone from a rich brown to lighter brown and starting to turn almost grey. The USS New Jersey just had a bunch of it's teak replaced.. ​@@rodshoaf There's quite a few photos, colorized and b&w of all the Iowas and other US BBs during WW2 both clearly with and without painted decks (Japanese surrender on Missouri is a famous example, there's also colorized video of Wisconsin with painted decks in 1945 somewhere on yt, in addition to many other examples) so you're probably correct and that does make sense, maybe that's what WG was going for on Wisconsin's model. Unless it's supposed to represent an immediate postwar version from 1946-1948 as the decks never appear to be painted at any point during the cold war (someone correct me if I'm wrong), but I don't think MS22 was in use by '46-'48 so I doubt that theory.

I'm saying even if they did paint the decks.. 2 months into whatever mission they are on.. there is literally no paint left on the deck.. it has been scrubbed (or swabbed) off.. also a painted deck is less safe unless they put grit in the paint being applied.. as painted metal/wood is slick when wet where bare wood will still allow traction on a heaving deck in the middle of the ocean. Also a battleship is not going to carry the thousand or so gallons of paint needed to keep the deck painted while on mission.. 1 it's a flammable liquid and 2 it takes up space than can be used to other essentials on ships.

7:50 Just look at that dispersion. That is what us Navyfield veterans called "blockshot." The sprites in that game made such tight groupings look like a single blob or block. It was only possible on certain ships (mostly British ones) and required a really good crew in order to do it.

I am not sure about the deck thing, the only fact I can tell is that even after the refit of Missouri in the 80´s the deck was still mostly out of wood (except the Helicopter landing Area), even during the Golf War in 1984 the deck was the same. I am pretty sure Wargaming just didn´t prioritize the looks that much back then, I cant think of another reason regarding the decks that makes sense. Awesome video btw, really enjoyed it, I am looking forward to get the ship.

the decks are mostly teak on top of steel the seams are caulked with oakum or cotten and the seams are filled with pitch or a caulking compound the same as ocean liners up until the sixtys after that most ships had compound decks the wood on the UK ships was BURMA TEAK

New Yersey (another IOWA class) also has an unpainted teak deck, theyre actually replacing it right now on the real museum ship. as to why this was done, I wouldnt know, but it is technically accurate to have wood on an iowa class deck

All older ships had Teak decks, brown wood. When this wood oxidizes gets weathered, it turns to a grey color. Modern ships have painted steel decks, no more wood. We cover the decks in non-skid, like a heavy duty rubber for traction. I spent 25 years in the Navy.

Iowa BB-61, New Jersey BB-62, Missouri BB-63, Wisconsin BB-64. With cancelled ships Illinois BB-65 and Kentucky BB-66. They began construction but were cancelled and scrapped as the war ended and they were no longer needed.

Maybe one day we'll see Kentucky as the full AA conversion. Illinois only has the main guns swapped. In reality the whole superstructure and secbat was supposed to be overhauled to be similar to how Maine looks.

​@@MalteseKnight Whats interesting is that all four Iowa-class Battleships were back in service. New Jersey in '82, Iowa in '84, Missouri in '86, and Wisconsin in '88. They served until early 90's, with the Missouri being the last Battleship to be decommissioned in '92 and never again brought back to service. Instead, they are serving as museums today.

Bourg is still going to be better for punishing ships that show broadside and HE spamming now tankers, since the MBRB is available with no shell hit requirement and reloads very fast (on a faster base reload). But Whiskey looks extremely spicy.

the first year or 2 after WW2 they stopped painting the deck navy blue even though the hull still had the in war camo till they painted haze grey over that too. so my guess is this is a 1946 depiction

I would hope moving a T9 ship to T10 they do more than buff the accuracy of the main guns.. they should extend the range of the secondaries and make then more accurate as well. The ranges they gave the other Iowa classes is less than impressive.. especially when you consider the great fire control the US actually had on the Iowa class ships in real life. So good that the British copied the fire control of them for it's smaller caliber guns later in the war. I mean it's sad that the T10 Montana has less range on it's secondaries then the T8 Mammy.. and that's AFTER the Mammy had its secondaries nerfed.

Personally, I much prefer Brisk to the Potential Damage skill for Iowas, they're kinda squishy ships with a huge amount of speed, going for Brisk really doubles down on the ships' ability to position.

Yeah prob with WG is that they introduce a busted ship or ship line then nerf the hell out of it and then introduce a newer ship or ship line which is as busted or even more busted than the later and then they can't handle the heat...and then they release premium versions of those nerfed ships rather than removing the nerfs from the originals and the crap goes on ..this is for better or worse WG trying to remove attention of players from criticizing WG though it's a pretty good looking ship from the match and gg Malta🎉

All dockyard ships are very spendy if you buy them out instead of grinding. This one is only 3200 dubs or even F2P if you already have WV44. It really depends on how grindy the missions are, my guess is in line with other recent dockyards.
