God I love how Terrry Pratchet is able to convey such dark sensibilities in his books, while still keeping it so light-hearted and fun. I think him and Joe Abercrombie are very much opposites in a way where they have a little bit of each other in them. Kinda like author ying and yang. Cosca is very much a character you could see in the discworld IMO, while the patrician or Death's butler could've been well fitted to appear in the circle of the world. I'm late reading (thanks a lot Malazan!) but wanted to put my two cents in: LOVED how Abercrombie, intentionally or not, mixed two types of revolutions together. He mixes a liberal bourgeois revolution with a proletariat worker's revolution. Theoretically these two happen at different times. The transition from feudalism to liberal capitalism (French rev) yields the conditions (an industrial age) that lead to a worker's revolution. Abercrombie pushes the industrial era forward so that it happens before feudalism ends, and it's believable. So then when everything kicks off, the revolution is very much bourgeois but with the aesthetics of a worker's revolt. Very fun to read.

And until now, from all books (and i read ALL Abercrombie Books multiple times!) the "best served cold" was my favorite. NOW the "wisdom of crowds" takes the throne and push "best served cold" to the second place. It's almost perfect and i couldn't agree more with all points that Daniel is making about the book in this yt book review! One thing that i like a lot was the transformation about my mood. With the start of the age of madness with "A little hatred" i was very (!) "uh yeah thats a nice introduce to new characters" and fall down with the following middle part "the trouble with peace" (i was split in half, with decisions abercrombie make and take a specific route, cannot say more because of potential spoilers)...but then with ending "Wisdom of Crowds" the conclusion BLOW ME AWAY, and upgrade my rating and viewing about "Trouble with peace" backwards way up. Even two weeks after finishing Wisdom of Crowds my Head is full of thoughts about the story, the ending and the mirror of our civilation over all. This book truly is a masterwork of fantasy. I adored every single bit of it. Leo and Orso's arc's across the trilogy are absolutely spectacular. Best book I've read this year with John Gwynne's newest a close 2nd. Still waiting on Jade Legacy but from what Daniel has said it may surpass WoC for me

I'm very hyper conscious of this, but I think we all get one per... decade? Yeah? I liked First Law before it was cool. This book was so good.

Damn you Daniel! See... I read first law this year, enjoyed it, but wasn’t really pumped to read any more Abercrombie any time soon bc his writting can be *depressive*. And now.... I'm hyped again...

Your wall handstand is impressive. I can’t do it facing away from the wall but I’m gonna practice lol.

I was finishing my first (I know) ever read through of Wheel of Time when this came out and just got around to finishing it. Couldn't agree more it's absolutely outstanding.

on the prose.... sometimes when im reading a sanderson or abercrombie book, ill repeat out loud what a character is saying, and get chills, and want to bookmark it and write it down or something... and then im like "There is literally no point to saving this quote @.@" even though i want to >.> it gets me so excited. i have mild tourettes, and when i get excited, i sometimes like... make squeaking noises? kinda? and there is a physical response that is hard to describe... and reading those types of moments just lights me up like crazy.

Agree 100% on all your subtle points! Which is kinda amazing really, pretty sure Ive been closer to 0% agreement on a few other reviews. 🤷♂️

Very excited to get into this books. Now we can look forward to the final trilogy set in this world in a few years! Joe kinda-ish confirmed (or cried) when asked of there would be standalones in between. So looking forward to those as well.

I’ve gotta read more First Law. I’ve only read the original trilogy and this has definitely convinced me I need to continue

I didn't feel depressed by the book or the series, it was just super interesting. I like that it didn't have cheep shock value deaths to my mind, instead deaths feels earned. Also all the characters i rooted for the most made it through :D Love this book and series. So many amazing characters!
