Wisdom Panel Dog DNA Kit - How Does it Work and is it Worth the Money?

This test was pretty accurate on guessing how my dog looked. The way they do these tests at least on Wisdom Panel is they look at the 0.01% of DNA that is actually different (because all dogs share 99.9% of the same DNA) and they analyze what dogs they already have to determine what kind of breeds are in your dog. Then when you get your DNA results they have your dog in the database and they can use that to get more accurate results. That's why if you do Wisdom Panel and some other dog DNA testing kit like Embark on your animal the results will be slightly different because they have a different database

@DrifterJourney you're welcome. I saw a comment saying that a man tested himself for a dog DNA test and that he came back as many different breeds. My guess as to why this happened is because humans and dogs even though we're different species there's still genetic similarities about us. That person also has to note that it's made for dogs so they're gonna register him as a dog because it only makes sense. (I'm not an expert or anything on genealogy so I don't know how true that actually is. It's just a theory of mine)

Thanks for the video. I just received my Wisdom kit today, a Premium, which also looks for health markers. I just activated and may use the kit today. I'm hoping the bristles on the swab don't cause a problem.

Lupe is so cute. I’ve got a very large 6 month 50lb puppy, I’m getting the Wisdom Panel, just hope she’ll let me keep the stick in her mouth for 15 seconds, lol

I don't trust any of those mail in DNA tests. They are fun, obviously, but I wouldn't bet money on the results. Whats imprtant is that she is Lupe and she is happy with her home.
