@@guczy Since when have logic or reason stopped the showrunners from using the rule of cool? Also, not as crazy as it sounds. They might very well be valyrian steel but its something that has been kept a secret. Or they might be regular steel swords that have been infused with fire magic having been forged from Balerion's flames making them imbued with the power to slay Others in a fashion similar to Valyrian steel. They never say that the throne needs to be treated for rust or wear (like Valyrian steel). Normal steel would have to be maintained regularly (this thing is HUNDREDS of years old and still sharp and rust-free) and it is never mentioned that it requires maintenance or anything. Total power move for Aegon the conquerer too. "Oh, your nigh indestructible magic swords? I used them to make my throne." Would make for a great ending as well. As all those swords from a symbol of subjegation are used to free the realm and save the people.

I think that a climatic moment will be a dragon's fire melting the throne. Be it the Night King, Daenerys, or maybe Jon on Rhaegal. That could be symbolic, and absolutely epic. Burning down Kings landing and crashing through the ceiling of the throne room to decimate the throne.

You could view the joining of the houses as having already occurred since R+L got married and made J. I think the ending will see the end of the Iron Throne altogether as thematically the sure has always critiqued the feudalist system as being intrinsically corrupt. If R+L or Jon and Dany were to unite and make the Tudors, the houses would unite but the wheel of corruption would keep on rolling. Since Dany wants to break the wheel, or at least wanted to, I think the show will end with a new system in place. All the kingdoms becoming self governing but becoming one based off representatives from their territories. I just feel like if you end with a king and queen, even if they themselves are just, you still maintain a system which through all the books and seasons has been shown to always birth corruption.

You need to devide it by two so you have a whole and singular child, composed of 25% ice from Jon's side, and 75% fire composed by 25% Jon fire and 50% Danny fire. 25% = 1/4 and 75% = 3/4 In conclusion that kid is not perfectly balanced so the ice part of his DNA is probably going to melt.

Stella Carneiro tbh I would vastly prefer Sansa just taking over winterfell (which is why I also mentioned the whole “Westeros breaking down” thing...it’s kind of a win win in that Sana’a gets A throne, but not the iron throne). I understand your point about character development, but I still think she’ll be one of the last survivors because 1. Jon isn’t meant to rule in peaceful times. He’s winter Jesus 2. Daenerys is dragon Jesus but she’s also absolutely insane. She’d be more inclined to burn King’s Landing to the ground than sit on its throne. The books and show have built her up to be an effective military commander, but a bad ruler (plus, Jon will likely kill her if he’s Azor Ahai) Sansa is the only character suited to ruling in times of peace and weaving through court matters.
@stellacarneiro49965 жыл бұрын
@@danicajekic1595 I disagree on your take of Daenerys. The show and the books show her to be a great conqueror, but her desire always was to be a great ruler and take care of her people. Just because she is ruthless in battle doesn’t mean she’s mad - hell, Tywin, Robert, Cersei, Euron, Jaime, Brienne and even Jon are just as ruthless in battle as she is, the difference is that they don’t have three dragons to be as deadly and effective. One of Daenery’s biggest desires is to be a mother, which manifests in her will to take care of her own army, dragons, counselors, friends, etc. This is completely reflective of her first season on the show and her trajectory in the books. And this last season, she was completely mellowed up for the romance to work and Jon even referenced her prophecy. However, all this being said, I don’t think Daenerys or Jon will sit on the throne either. I think their child will. And I also don’t think Jon will be Azor Ahai. I think it will be Jaime. But that’s a whole other discussion.

I agree with those who theorized that the only reasonable ending would be that there will be no actual ruler anymore, meaning at the end we will see some kind of reform of power which will transform the absolute monarchy of the present in either a constitutional monarchy (though in this case, there will still be a royal family I guess) or a republic.

Why did Tolkien coin the therm "the eucatastrophe" when he actually means "Deus ex Machina" ???
@BrandonPatrk3175 жыл бұрын
Deus ex machina usually come completely out of the blue to conclude the story. Eucatastrophe does have to be set up a bit and while it might save a character or group, it doesn't resolve the overall plot. The Eagles of Manwe were a thing. We knew about them. They come in to save Sam and Frodo after the ring is already destroyed and the quest is, technically, completed. A deus ex machina might have been something like, Frodo is going to throw the ring, then says "I will not do this," and then lightning comes out of nowhere and destroys Frodo and the ring. And . . . the story is resolved. Eucatastrophe could be viewed as a D.E.M. with more restrictions, definitely.
@silverdragon7105 жыл бұрын
@Theunthinking1 Eagles coming for Frodo and Sam arent DEM. They were there fighting the Nazgul before the ring was destroyed and then Gandlaf took them to Mount Doom to look for Frodo and Sam. So, it's an eucatastophe but only from Frodo's and Sam's POV.

How about this? There won't be an Iron Throne to sit on because it will get destroyed together with the Red Keep and everyone with a strong claim to it during the final battle. Then the realm gets divided into it's original independent kingdoms while Kings Landing becomes a trading enclave. The dragons die, thus restoring the power balance. Final scene will be Jon Snow wandering/riding off beyond the Wall to live out his life with the Free Folk who have now made peace with the North. That would be the perfect "bittersweet" end since the independent kingdoms were fairly stable and well-run for thousands of years while the Targaryen realm was plagued by mismanagement and civil wars. And Jon gets to finally "relax".

I actually believe you would have Jon in the Ragnarok example. In fact, I believe he is Baldur.. you just have to mess with the timeline a bit. You forgot to mention Baldurs rebirth after the end of Ragnarok. Jon was both killed and reborn, plus he is a beloved king/prince/just all-round good guy. It was also his death that heralded winter instead of his cousin Robb's. I just don't believe that Robb is relevant enough in the grand scheme of things to be Baldur. I think Jon is a much better fit as Baldur... but hey... It's just an opinon
@jeremiahblondin56585 жыл бұрын
When I heard this bit I started thinking about the structure of that event in the original story to see if it fits. Loki handed a dart to Hod, the blind god, and had him throw it at baldur, who it was believed couldn't be harmed. If we make a guess as to who is Baldur, we also can effectively guess as to who Loki and Hod must be in that situation, and see if it fits. My first thought was that, if the narrative was supposed to be Ragnarok, then perhaps the death of Baldur would happen right at the beginning, as the death of Baldur does in the Ragnarok narrative. That would make Baldur Ned Stark. That would make Geoffery, his executor, Hod, which kind of makes sense. He could be thought of as "blind" in a sense. But then who is Loki...Littlefinger? Cersei? They are the ones who orchestrated his death behind the scenes. Can't be Littlefinger, since he's dead and all, even though he is an awesome fit for Loki, and I just don't see Cersei in a Loki role. What about Rob? Well I guess that would make the Boltons Hod, and maybe the Lannisters are Loki? I'm not sure there is really any way in which the Boltons are manipulated into their actions so I don't really see this one either. How about Jon? Well the rebels in the Nights Watch were Hod but who is Loki in this scenario? Nobody tricked the rebels into acting. Are the wildlings Loki? Stannis? Their effects on the motivation of Jon's murderers were indirect at best. There just isn't a clear Loki figure in this scenario. Of the three, I think Ned is the best fit. It shows someone the audience expects to be protected by plot armor being killed by an idiot being manipulated by a skilled trickster who wants the throne for himself. It fits like a glove...except that Littlefinger is dead. I think that Ned/Geoffery/Littlefinger were foreshadowing of a larger event later on. Maybe Jon is Baldur, but he hasn't been killed yet. Maybe we are meant to think that he is indestructible since he's been returned from the dead once, but he is going to be killed again in grand fashion by a dunce under the manipulation of a far more clever individual. Only later do we find that he is symbolically resurrected in the form of his child... I don't really know but I think that the structure of the death scene matters just as much in the Baldur designation if any character is meant to represent Baldur. I think Baldur would not only be killed and start Ragnarok, he would likely be killed by stooge being manipulated by someone else, as that is perhaps the core feature of Baldur's death.
