My family owned a movie theatre for many years. Over time you pick up the trends with movie releases. One of the trends is if a horror movie comes out in the first quarter or during the summer it's likely gonna suck especially if it's not rated R. Legit horror movies are released during the Halloween season from Mid September through October.

I actually had a garbage disposal whose button was at hip-level, so you could accidentally set it off while digging in the sink. I learned to work around it, but visitors set the stupid thing off by accident all the time (but none were hurt!). As dumb as it is, that horror-movie trope really can happen.

This movie really was just The Craft, with witch magic replaced by the box, and all 4 girls rolled up into 1 awful one. You had the wish against the mean popular girl, who started deteriorating. You had the wish that a boy would like her, who started stalking her. You had the wish to get rich, which happens by a father/uncle dying and they move into a sweet new place. You had the wish to heal a scar, which were literal scars in The Craft and the dad's mental scar of losing his wife in Wish Upon.
