I have loved this song for 50 years! How beautiful! Great melody and harmonies! We played this EVERY Christmas Eve, through the 80’s and 90’s for our Holiday celebration! Now, THIS is a wonderful way to remember this great song and family moments!! AH, ah, ah, ahhhhh!! Ah,ah, ah, ahhhhh! Simply beautiful! Peace! Steve

what a great song. one of my alltime favorites of the band. i think it was the first that they played it live on the german tour 2009. i never heard or see it live before and i see them over 100 times in the last 39 years. this song is phantastic and so ooold. can´t get enough of it. again and again and............

One reason I've always loved this band. they're the class in classic rock. Notice the reggae feel at the end, ahead of the curve for a song released in 1971 and written in late 60's.

The English group WISHBONE ASH is undoubtedly one of the greatest exponents of this wonderful musical style, rock / pop, of all time. "Homburg" with its enigmatic lyrics and priceless music is one of the best in the group, whose simple but creative and revolutionary style has lasted for decades. I believe it to be this song from 1965 or before and it is even remarkable today. With no synthetic feat or special instrument, only using bass, drums, solo guitar and bass, and a wonderful vocalization, they produce great songs and their album ARGUS to this day is one of the greatest classics in history, in my opinion as important as Sargent Peppers the Beatles, Deep Purple's Machine Head and the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds. WISHBONE ASH, forever in our hearts! Paul Pecchio Bairro do Campo Belo - São Paulo - SP

One of my favourite old songs by Wishbone Ash, when they had that lovely folky edge... with a beautiful electric guitar solo from Andy Powell. I never heard this song live, I think... a pity. This Live In Hamburg DVD is one of their very best live releases.

Wishbone has had the most melodic guitarists that play melodic notes not just fast runs up and down the guitar that don't have much feeling or meaning behind them

Don't know what it is about Valediction that's so good. Even the raw, 70's album version just seems to fit. Perhaps it's a classic 'seems basic, seems easy but boy it isn't'. Or, I think, the minor mixed with major rifts. Or it's just a classic folk / rock feel. Classic, brilliant. Andy Powell is so under rated but I can't imagine he gives a sh**. There's no better live band.

Absolutely right. And it also touches my soul too, Anne Marie Jensen. This is one of those few songs that I can listen to on repeat for an hour and wonder where 60 minutes went. You can get totally absorbed in this. Delighted to see that the live performance stuck so closely to the album version, because live versions are often disappointingly different. For my money their best song, even though some of their others are very fine.

It's a beautiful mixture. English folk music with rock. American bands like the Byrds did the same thing with American style folk music, think of Turn, turn, turn Tamborine man, etc.
