I have followed your vlogs and photography for some time and enjoy your professional and honest approach. It has provided me with great insights with a few tips for our forthcoming trip to Andalusia. I agree you tube is full of travel blogs with sensationalism and click bait utilised to attract views which is par for the course in the world we live in to increase revenue and draws us into advertising. I don’t personally do you tube but do film and retain footage , not to the standards you deliver but be assured there are many tips and a wealth of knowledge we gain from your channel that I’m sure informs and improves our travel experiences so keep up the good work and enjoy 2025.

Hi I’ve just recently started watching your vlogs and as you come over as being very practical I wondered if I could ask you a couple of questions? Myself and my husband and our collie Boo are heading off within next week or so to Europe in our motorhome - first timers - and I wondered if you could advise us regarding dangerous/poisonous creatures whilst we travel. I believe there’s a deadly caterpillar that is ?rife throughout Europe and if a dog stood on one or sniffed it then they have a serious anaphalactic reaction so you need a vet urgently - I’m aware of the sand flies and she is protected with a seresto collar for those and fleas n ticks. Any help you can share for us to keep her as safe as we can would be appreciated. I retired from the veterinary industry earlier in year but as we don’t have these creatures here I have no experience of them - I was a receptionist not a vet btw 😊 thanking you in advance

Hi, how fantastic that you are all travelling to Europe, we hope you have a great time. It sounds like you are pretty much up to speed with things for Boo. We use a seresto collar for Poppy to protect her from sandflies and leishmaniasis. Yes, there is a very troublesome caterpillar they are called processionary or processional caterpillars. They nest in pine and oak trees, the nests look like balls of silk or cotton wool and in early spring/summer they hatch and make their way from their nests to the ground. They walk in long lines, hence the name processional. They can cause issues for humans but can be fatal to dogs as the toxic hairs on their backs if licked, touched or ingested can cause irritation, swelling and breathing difficulties . Unfortunately they are all over Europe now having spread from the southern Med areas over time. It’s worth ‘googling’ them to get a picture of them and their nests so you know what to look for and if they will be active when you are there. Some of web pages say to be aware of them from Dec to the end of June. In practical terms for us we keep out of forests and away from Pine trees. Thank you very much for watching and safe travels.
