"Toni Kukoc - Croatian Marvel". (1987 - 1998)
A special tribute for his 45 years anniversary day.
Kukoc was a genius at that time , quicker for his size, smouth ,smart ....his passes were anwsome and flashy and his first step unpredictable.
He was also a very strong shooter from D....a dagger !!!
A creative player in motion with big I.Q who played in the greatest team of all time (chicago bulls) with 3 giants ....Jordan , Pippen and Rodman.
12 minutes of pleasure ....with some rare footages.

He was never underated. Maybe only in his first NBA season. And never more.He was always the MAN.The star.

@@33neptun Actually, he was underrated entire time, including recent Last Dance, where he was hardly mentioned. He was a BEAST - impossible to guard (MJ and Pippen were needed to stop him on the Olympics; in second game not even them), excellent shooter, great passer... he could play all roles. And when he plays dirty work for team, he stretches enemy defense to breaking point (even Ewing said that Toni was killing them with his movement - they can't leave him unguarded coz he is to dangerous, and Toni moves to much for just one to guard him so they had to double him - he was making chaos in their defense). Not to forget that he was tall, agile and left handed on top of all. And only now, in 2021, he is nominated for HOF, and the fact that lots of far less significant players had been in HOF for long time only confirm that Toni is hugely underrated as a player and his significance in NBA (don't forget that he was one of the European pioneers in NBA, in time when there were no many European players in NBA).

For the time spent on court, the restrictive play due to selfishness of Jordan and especially cry baby Pippen, Tony was awesome. Always there when needed, always reliable, great under pressure, all rounder. Extremely Unselfish, true tram player, a lover of the game, a technician+

I was very fortunate to be a fan from Chicago and witness this great team from the beginnings. We all knew Kukoc was good but this highlight reel really sums it up. I always felt they intentionally held him back to keep MJ and Pippen happy. But when they needed him, he almost ALWAYS delivered. Clutch, inside, perimeter, defensive plays, he was an all star caliber player. It seemed that when he was running the offense, his passing, ESPECIALLY those no look behind the back and over the shoulder dishes were perhaps the best of his era. And the speed with which he scored and assisted was unparalleled in the league. Great decision making on the run and in transition.

You nailed it.. he plays the best with the ball in his hands as he’s always been a facilitator type of player.. so essentially he never played that position in the NBA.. he adapted and became a stretch 4 and was still a nightmare matchup. We could see when Toni actually had the ball and brought it up the court it was pure magic. Imagine this man with his own team it would be madness!b

I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. Will Perdue KILLED my Blazers, but I give him credit: He was SOLID. Look at how many times Toni Kukoc found him for wide open dunks. Toni knew how to find teammates, and Will knew how to get to the open spots. Teamwork.

Jurka Ivan He had his chance when Jordan retired and Pippen left, but he produced borderline All-Star numbers with the team barely winning anything and was eventually shipped to Philly midway through that season.

Kukoc said that he thinks he is better than Nowitzki. I think Kukoc had more skill than Dirk, but he lacked the will/courage to take the ball to himself.

jan279 I haven't seen him playing back then to tell for sure but I think by 2001 he was 33 and was ageing. He had a lot of talent but his type of game and his size (height) required him to be very mobile and fit, thus fresh and young, to be effective. even as three points shooter. Or maybe he got too much used to MJ and Pippen on his side?

I had no idea that he was Croatian. When he played for Jugoplastik I thought it was Yugoslavia. But since they split up I guess I couldn't figure it out. I see that he played with Dusko Ivanovic when they won the Eurocup, I know that he was from Montenegro which I thought was under Yugoslavia. i can't keep up with all the divisions of countries anymore.

Kukoč, Radja, Petrović, Ćosić are Croatians. Him and Ivanović played together in Jugoplastika from Split in Croatia, on Dalmatian coast. Montenegro is down south from here. But you are right both of us were Yugoslavia, including Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia, Macedonia.
